And once again, society has to pay the price for medical miracles.

Listen, I'm not a heartless person and I'm not advocating no medical care at all. But when will all this end? People living for years with breathing tubes, life support, etc. People having babies who require years of medical treatment just to survive? Transplants, fertility drugs, etc.
Is anyone else scared about the outcome and cost of all this? And, I'm not talking about the $ cost either (although that's obviously a factor to consider). The cost, as in, what's next on the medical horizon? What about overpopulation? Deterioration of the earth's resources?
Part of me hopes they don't ever cure AIDS because an even larger part of me is more scared of what could possibly be worse than that.
