Lee Hieb, M.D., author of “Surviving the Medical Meltdown: Your Guide to Living Through the Disaster of Obamacare,” was similarly unsurprised that the measles outbreak may have come from overseas.

“I’ve been saying this for a while, as many other doctors have been,” Hieb said. “When you open your borders without medical screening to these illegals, you’re not just bringing measles. Measles is just the overt thing. You’re bringing a lot of diseases, and this is going to be one of them.”

Central American countries have similar vaccination rates to the US, some even higher. The outbreak can be due to someone being here legally from Asia or Africa who have much lower rates of vaccination.

The measles outbreak last summer in Ohio was due to an unvaccinated Amish person contracting it in the Philippines and bringing it back.

While I agree with your assessment that stupidity is a most likely reason for the resurgence of measles in the US, I would definitely disagree as to the source of the stupidity. Stupid is the belief that by allowing wholesale illegal invasion, without proper medical vetting of the invaders, is somehow good for the US. Or that undisclosed dispersal of such un-vetted persons without proper medical examination and clearance, with the demand that they be integrated into our schools without having the same medical protections demanded of US citizens and legal residents...yeah, all that is rank, ignorant stupidity of the highest level.

Schools can deny any child without vaccinations admittance- unless of course the state has provisions for parents to decline- such as Texas:

My understanding is that you develop immunity to measles either through vaccination or surviving a bout of it.

It has also been shown in this thread that Central American countries have similar vaccination rates as the US. It has not been shown that there are measles outbreaks in these countries.
