(CNN)Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to hold a final vote to acquit President Donald Trump, should he be impeached, when a majority of senators believe his trial has run its course instead of holding a vote on dismissing the articles of impeachment, two Republican senators told CNN on Wednesday.

Republicans want to have a vote on acquittal -- to clear the President of the charges against him -- not simply rely on a 51-vote threshold procedural motion to dismiss the hotly disputed case.
The Constitution mandates 67 votes are required to convict the President and remove him from office, a barrier widely considered too high to be reached in this case."

Should be interesting.

This is no surprise. ALL Republican Senators have made their case clear. Sad day for our hard fought Constitution though.

I think McConnell would like to force Dem (and RINO) Senators to go on the record as voting to overturn the results of an election because they don't like who won.

Should go over well with voters.

Impeach the fat fuck again and again until the Senate does its duty

Yes, let's do that and when Rs take over the house, well fabricate crimes just as libs did. This is what we get when emotional libs with hate rule.
Go ahead. It's all you did under Obama. Good luck getting to impeachment without the backing of any respected people or entities.

How do you figure?

You don't think the Republicans should have a vote in the Senate on this important issue?

But in any event, the enemy's (CNN) opinion as to how exactly this will all unwind isn't worth a whole lot.

I don't think the President is going to give the Fake News leader the heads up on his plans here. We may well get a full trial here, if Donald J. Trump determines that's they way he wants to go. After all, a full trial would keep senators (like Crazy Bernie and Pocahontas) off the campaign trail for months, and put other candidates like Sleepy Joe on the witness stand.

Sure, the supposedly leaked plan that CNN has shown has merit too, but I wouldn't count on it.

The main thing the Dems need to realize is that they lose control of this whole situation as soon as they pass articles of impeachment.

How is it a "sad day" when they're going to bring everything into the light and then vote on it, dumbass?

Actually, the Republicans didn't impeach the Big O, even when they had the votes.
