CNN)Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday he would "absolutely" support former President Donald Trump if he became the GOP presidential nominee in 2024, a notable commitment following his recent blistering critiques of the former President.
While McConnell maintained that the 2024 presidential election cycle would be a "wide-open race," when pressed by Fox News' Bret Baier about supporting Trump if he captured the Republican nomination, McConnell offered, "The nominee of the party? Absolutely."
The Kentucky Republican's comments come just weeks after he delivered a pointed rebukeof Trump on the Senate floor for fomenting the deadly US Capitol insurrection. Though McConnell voted to acquit Trump anyway, he called the former President's actions that preceded the riot "a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty."
"Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said as he suggested that the former President could be subject to criminal prosecution.

Someone needs to tell McConnell to make up his mind. If he keeps vacillating like this, he will unseat Lindsey Graham for biggest windsock. That said, the message is clear: The Republican Party goes by way of Donald Trump...

He’s pathetic. And he’s afraid if he doesn’t appease the trumpscum imbeciles, that he will lose his “leadership” position.

at some point, you have to wonder why they are there if they can’t stand up to seditious white supremacist scum

Mitch is a republican who plans to support the republican nominee whoever it is. No shocker there. Only thing surprising is that someone bothered to ask him. The only thing in DC older than Mitch is Biden's high school diploma.

I disagree. The Reps like winners and Trump has 75 million or more supporters. If he gets the get the nomination he will win and they know it.
The question is: Is his number of supporters increasing, or decreasing? It would have to be increasing, because if it stays the same he'll simply lose again.

Not if the voters can be verified and the corruption cleaned up

Translation:

Trump will never be allowed to get the nomination.

Problem is are 75 million or more people that hate Trump on the other side that will come out and vote against him.
That number isn't near that large....I doubt Biden got over 70 MM legit votes, let alone 80.
