The National Defense Authorization bill has nothing to do with Section 230. The committees in the House and Senate have no jurisdiction over Section 230. The bill passed in the House and Senate with veto-proof majorities so it will likely be overridden.

Heard this argument before, back in the 70s when big US automakers had lousy QC and designed with planned obsolescence in mind vs small cars from Japan. US automakers got it together much more and I went back to buying American. I do not quibble with what other people make. That is for the manufacturers and the UAW. If they become non-competitive again for price or quality, I will go back to foreign design or manufacturing. I am the decision maker of what I want, like and invest my money in.

Actually, they CAN be sued if they report something that is patently false and Libelous or Slanderous. You can't stop them from reporting though just as long as they are willing to take the heat. Fox and Newsmax are starting to do retractions due to this. If CNN reports on Rump and it can proven as false AND it can be proven it has done some sort of damage then they either must retract or be sued for the amount of money to make things right. But if what they report has some truth in it and the only damage is it makes Rump look bad, Sorry, too late on that one.
