It's going to be an astonishing film. I think even Oscar material. I hear the performances are very emotionally driven. It errs on the side of pushing the envelope too much. There's on scene, supposedly where Max slaps his mom, that's causing a lot of stir and may not end up in the final version.
This was one of my favorite books as a child. I saw Spike Jonze "Being John Malkovich " a year ago and
really liked his directing of that movie. I can only expect he will do great with Sendak's story.
