Massachusetts education officials ask Boston, Worcester and Springfield schools for plan to get special education students back into classrooms

Still relying on remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic, school districts in Boston, Worcester and Springfield have received letters from state education officials, asking for more information about when special education students and those with disabilities will return to classrooms.

The letters, signed by Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner Jeffrey Riley, were sent this week and ask city officials to respond with a plan within 10 days.

They need to figure something out because these kids don't do well at all without in person learning.

That has been a goal of DESE and the state gov. since all this shit started. However, all those places are also experiencing significant spikes in positive tests for the 'rona, so we'll see.

It's true that sped and SLIFE kids really don't do as well with this remote system of learning. Some kids need things like physical therapy that are all but impossible to administer remotely. It's a tough situation for all involved.
