Is Maryland trying to secede from the South? -

Marylanders may live just south of the Mason-Dixon line, but there are signs that many would like to secede from the South and cozy up to the North.

As Associated Press writer Brian Witte points out, for example, lawmakers have successfully petitioned to move from the Southern Region of the Council of State Governments to the Eastern Region, where they'll be able to trade ideas with fellow officials from Pennsylvania, and New York.

"The South, which we have been a part of for more than 50 years, is a fabulous region, but the politics have changed dramatically, and much of the politics are dominated by tea party activists," says Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, a Democrat.

Just as with Texas, we kicked their asses before, and if they secede, we will do it again. Nothing to see here.

RETARD ALERT. Maryland is not talking about leaving the US at all, simply talking about what Regional group they identify with.

BY the way? Who taught you American History? Maryland remained a State in the Union through out the Civil War.

I don't think either of you are really prepared for what a modern day civil war would look llike. Republicans need to quit threatening succession and democrats need to quit egging them on. If you though the last one was bad, let us have another and watch what that one is like. It won't be just the states trying to leave who bear the scars.

Isn't the "We" mentioned above America? You know...the rest of the RATIONAL thinking citizens?

It is really sad how little you people know about our own Civil War.....if you did, you would know how many MD units were part of the Army of Northern Virginia....
