WrongāI find it hard to imagine what kind of āpersonal freedomā an unemployed person could haveāsomeone who goes hungry and cannot find work. True freedom exists only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of one person by another, where there is no unemployment or poverty, where people do not live in fear of losing their jobs, homes, or bread the next day. Only in such a society is trueānot merely nominalāpersonal and every other kind of freedom possible.
ā A conversation with Roy Howard, chairman of the American newspaper association āScripps-Howard Newspapers.ā March 1, 1936.
Exploitation is universal can never be abolished and is not a bad thing , unlss forced.
