According to the Communist Manifesto, the only reason for coercive government is the fight against the repressive monarchies and dictatorships that artificially try to cause people to be greedy and hostile.

And you can't get much greedier or undemocratic than Israel.

Which states what I have always said about Marx. It's not necessarily his philosophy that is so dangerous (although some parts are completely impractical). How would electing the Chief Executive by a nation wide popular vote do that exactly? The States still have most of the power. Imo, we should limit the power of both the Executive and the Congress. Term limits, balanced budgets and no ginormous omnibus spending bills. How about they have separate votes on major spending items.

Changing from the electoral college to a popular vote would not be a massive change. It is Republicans who are trying to fundamentally change America.
