The last time the Senate pulled a similar stunt it was under the leadership of the recently deceased Harry Reid in 2013 and they pulled it off and got what they wanted in the short term and paid for it big time a few years later. Short term wins often have big cost down the road something both parties would be wise to remember but never seem to. Instead of trashing Manchin and Sinema the left might consider being grateful that they are keeping the party from repeating the mistake of 2013.

Maybe Sinema deserves a little bit of credit too. But the thing is, we are seeing the new Democratic Party, this is who they are now and if the voters ever give that party the House, Senate, and Presidency again then they could and probably will permanently and drastically change this country, and not for the better IMHO.

Sinema is just as big of a crook as Manchin. She has been bought and paid for. We are seeing the new fascist Republican Party. If Republicans get control of the House, Senate and White House they will turn this country into aRepublican dictatorship. Democrats would change the country for the better.

sorry no that's not true. Thats like a saying a person cannot be a republican if they do not support Trump.. There are leftists democrat's and there are moderate and centrist democrats. Many Dems in the midwest support strong second amendment rights and do not favor abortion on demand because it is murder. We also know by science that there are two genders except for the incredibly rare birth where both are present. And we insist upon a military strong enough to protect freedom on this globe. And this centrist will firmly stick a fork into the hand (or eye if necessary) of any damned fool who tries to a piece of meat off of my table. And not that fake meat crap either.

But you will see me on a picket line to enforce safe working conditions and to ensure a true collective bargaining for decent wages and conditions under a fair contract. When I say fair, I want a strong and profitable company to negotiate with. Too many people don't understand that a contract that says 50 dollars an hour is worthless if the company cannot sell their products because the same thing is made in 10 different Asian countries with 3 dollar a day labor. I am a democrat because I do want programs that will help give people a hand up as long they are truly trying to be self-sufficient. And I will support help for people who are truly incapable of working because they are truly disabled. But if a healthy person refuses to work, then they shouldn't even get a slice of bread.

Last election, every candidate above the County level was left blank on my ballot. Because the choice was to be hit in the left side of the head with ball bat, or get hit in the right side of the head with a ball bat. The filibuster has long been the last resort of preventing mob rule. Both parties have relied upon it in its current form to prevent one party from having total control of America. Watching how fast and totally the socialists have tried to completely destroy the America everyone fought for for the last 2 1/2 centuries and watching what has been happening in our schools and in our streets we must hold on to the filibuster or this country will not exist by the next presidential election.Manchin is one of the few true Democrats left in Washington. The others have capitulated completely to the likes of sanders, cortez and jayapal.

The left doesn't seem to know just how badly they have screwed up the democratic party and our entire country. Everytime they think they are being clever they tear a little bit more of the soul of our nation to shreds. Then when they claim they are trying to save democracy, one of their new young hero's just made it legal for non citizens to vote in New York, I get so angry I could spit.

Where was one place last election where people were denied their right to vote? Why do people think we need an election season 3 months long to allow people to vote, thats pure dishonesty and total stupidity. Only a fool or a dishonest person could see any value in such a thing.

Mancin and Cinema saved the Democrats from themselves and I really think there are a lot of DEMS in private taking a deep sigh of relief at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue. The cynic in me says "If you got rid of the filibuster, you'd have no excuse to ram through every campaign promise you made (usually costing trillions of dollars) if you have both Houses as well." But on a more practical note, the only certainty in Washington has been the political football oscillates between the two teams and everyone of them up there know the they will only have it for a few years and will have to rely on the filibuster at some point very soon.
