I can't see how these republicans could view the footage of the insurrection and then say these things, like describing these people as tourists. Tourists don't normally come to DC with battle gear and weaponry, they don't break through police barriers, beat up cops, and smash things. I was just reading about a guy who drove all the way from Texas to DC, which takes a few days, with an AR-15, so he must have known in advance that there would be trouble, and been intent on starting it or participating in it.

It's downright frightening to have representatives of a major political party who are members of our national legislature making comments like these, and otherwise openly violating clearly established rules and behavioral norms. They have forced their way into hearings that were off-limits to them under House rules (gaetz), harassing other members in hallways (taylor-green), bullying witnesses and refusing to stop speaking when their allotted time was up (jordan), making insulting and childish comments to nominees and witnesses (Inhoffe and others). There have been many more instances of this sort of bad behavior, all of it indicating that these people are not mentally stable and should not be entrusted with the authority to make laws. What were the people who voted for them thinking?
