The GOP's government shutdown cost US $24 billion, .05% of GDP and 120,000 jobs.
The government loan to GM cost US $10.9 billion, saved 1,000,000 jobs and kept the recession from becoming a depression.

So Obama is such an idiot that he spent $24 billion MORE not operating government than he did if he'd operated it? Wow, you're right, what a flaming incompetent he is.

A GM structured bankrupcy would have saved the same jobs and cost the taxpayers nothing. the only loser would be the UAW because those new companies would have to have union representation votes and the UAW could not take the chance of losing paying members and the dems could not take the chance of losing union money.

Thats why GM was bailed out-----to save the UAW.

the difference between building the economy for the future and tearing it down ....

Wrong, cupcake. dimocrap scum shut the government down, not Republicans.

And, BTW?

How's that obamacare thingie working out for you?

You know, the little item that you refused to budge on and so shut down the gubmint...?

Yeah, that one. How's it going with that?

Idiots

The economy grew well over 3% last quarter. So remind me how the shutdown cost anything.
More lies and talking points from desperate leftists.
But thanks for pointing out that the taxpayer took it in the ass from "saving" GM. The only defense is the usual "it would have been worse otherwise."

holy smokes, anything to make excuses for Obama

he only lost 10 Billion of OUR MONEY there on TOP of the almost TRILLION dollars he called a stimulus, we the people have NO IDEA where that money went..On top of the Millions for his new fascist government program, called ofailCare, on TOP of all his green energy cronies he gave money to that went, Bankrupt.....and the good news just keep rolling on and on and on

just pathetic

The problem is that the economy improved more over the shutdown than it has in a long time. You have to blatantly ignore reality to come up to the conclusions that you have. The funniest thing about this is that you have the left demanding that Obama has done wonders for the economy when the actual economy is doing terrible, experiencing one of the most anemic recoveries in history but then demanding that the right damaged the economy when we have an actual period of growth.

Why don't you take a look at reality, it disagrees with your suppositions.

Yep, Forbes is a leftist publication alright:

Taxpayers Don't Have Government Motors To Kick Around Any More - Forbes

And the far left just continues to post their propaganda.

Taxpayers lost $11 billion and you consider that a success?

Typical liberal, taking credit for someone else's work.

Wasn't GM bailout part of TARP?

Yep. Taxpayers 'lost' a lot more than $11 billion dollars a month on the Iraq Fiasco which went on for years. That said, there were many pluses in the article which you either ignored or chose to ignore - lies by omission are as dishonest as lies by commission.
