Trump was as useless getting us out as Obama in my book. They just talked about it. I did like your second paragraph. It would have cost us fewer lives and been far cheaper. I don't think they wanted to do it that way, because war is good for business in the military industrial complex we were warned about.

I don't know if there was enough publicly known at the time to allow bill to justify the preemptive strike. I never heard of Osama until his 9/11 attack. Of course, I worked for a living back then so could have missed it as thing closer to home were more important and still are, for that matter. The whole go in, attack the country and use the countries oil or minerals to pay for it, just isn't anything we would be prepared to do, really in the name of nation building and sewing the seeds of American ideals, so that is why we didn't, don't and won't.

All he did was say we were getting out publicly and about 3 months later did it. I think our military did as best they could do, considering the host country's military (that we trained, armed and funded) folded their tents, beat feet for the border and dropped their weapons in place, when they heard we weren't stayin and payin, no more. State Department dropped the ball or never really picked it up and should have been shutting down and getting their people and friendlies out far sooner and telling civilian contractors to get their people out.
