McClatchy Reporter Speed Writes D.C. Tea Party Story in Record Time | NewsBusters.org

Kudos to William Douglas of McClatchy newspapers. That reporter can write and file stories with amazing speed. One such story was this article that Douglas filed about the March 20 Tea Party protest in Washington, D.C. where racial slurs were supposedly hurled. Jack Cashill of American Thinker was so impressed with the speed in which Douglas wrote his story that he wrote this American Thinker blog about this feat accompanied by a video. Here is Cashill as he observes with awe how quickly Douglas wrote his McClatchy story:

...I checked with my source on the scene, Greg Farrell, to get a timeline on the passage of the Black Caucus members from the Cannon Building to the Capitol and back. According to Farrell, they left the Cannon Building about 2:30 PM on March 20th and returned about 3:15 PM. He had no reason to exaggerate.

I asked because at 4:51 that same day, McClatchy reporter William Douglas posted an article on the McClatchy website with the inflammatory headline, "Tea party protesters scream '******' at black congressman."

In other words, Douglas, with an attributed assist from James Rosen, managed to interview representatives John Lewis, Emanuel Cleaver, and Barney Frank, compose an 800-word article, and have it edited and formatted for posting within a 90-minute window.

Big Hollywood Blog Archive Barack Obama’s Helter-Skelter, Insane Clown Posse, Alinsky Plans to ‘Deconstruct’ America

The first sign that a plan was in place was the ham-fisted, high-camp posturing of the most controversial members of the Democratic caucus walking through the peaceful but animated “Tea Party” demonstrators on Capitol Hill. There is no reason for these elected officials to walk above ground through the media circus amid their ideological foes. The natural route is the tunnels between the House office buildings and the Capitol. By crafting a highly symbolic walk of the Congressional Black Caucus through the majority white crowd, the Democratic Party was looking to provoke a negative reaction. They didn’t get it. So they made it up.

The proof that the N-word wasn’t said once, let alone 15 times, as Rep. Andre Carson claimed, is that soon thereafter — even though the press dutifully reported it as truth — Nancy Pelosi followed the alleged hate fest, which allegedly included someone spitting, by walking through the crowd with a gavel in hand and a shit-eating grin on her face. Had the incidents reported by the Congressional Black Caucus actually occurred the Capitol Police would have been negligent to allow the least popular person to that crowd – the Speaker – to put herself in harm’s way.

That crowd was a sea of new-media equipment. Not only were tens of thousands people armed with handicams, BlackBerrys and iPods, so also was the mainstream media there, covering every inch of the event. Why did not one mainstream media outlet raise the specter that perhaps a video would exist to prove the events occurred? I am still dealing with the same press telling me we didn’t prove that ACORN was aiding and abetting criminal activity because we “did not provide enough audio and video evidence.” (Insert laugh track.) Is there not a blatant double standard at play here? Nancy Pelosi tipped her hand that race was a central part of her strategy. She invoked the Civil Rights Act and compared it with the universally reviled health care bill. Her caucus is doubling down on the civil-rights rhetoric. There are no coincidences.

Linking the health-care bill, which has nothing to do with black and white, to the divisive civil-rights period, while simultaneously accusing its opponents of being racist, is an evil strategy — literally. Charles Manson would approve.

We are now two weeks since the bill was signed and the $10k reward jumped to $20k in a day after it was mentioned on both Hannity and O’Reilly. At the Searchlight Tea Party event last weekend I upped the ante to $100k. So where’s the evidence? Ken Vogel of Politico covered this story and said calls to Rep. John Lewis — one of the originator’s of the N-word storyline – were never returned.

Nancy Pelosi did a great disservice to a great civil rights icon by thrusting him out there to perform this mischievous task. His reputation is now on the line as a result of her desperation to take down the Tea Party movement.

We’ve called their bluff. And they have tried to back off. They realize that this race warfare can backfire, just as it did with the railroaded Duke lacrosse players, as it did with professor Madonna Constantine and her faked noose incident at Columbia and the Sergeant Crowley boner by Barack Obama who stupidly said the white police officer had behaved “stupidly” in handcuffing Skip Gates.

And on and on at the link. Breitbart can really go on a tear when he feels like it.

Nothing shakes up big government like a real grassroots movement. Shame that the far Left in power (Pelosi/Reid/Obama) don't have a reciprocal movement of their own and haven't for 40+ years. A hope and change flash in the pan with a trail of broken promises getting longer by the month can't keep up no matter how many lies they tell about the other side.

Best of all, a party in power has never fallen out of favor so fast, with so little bump going to the other side of minority power politico's. The people, God bless em (maybe there is a God after all), are ready to vote out as many bums from both sides as possible. The MSM no longer has the power to thrust upon us another Obama or another McCain for POTUS. Three cheers for Al Gore, the inventor of the internet!

Rep. Cleaver does the backpeddle in Olympic record time. :clap2::clap2:

Cleaver Steadfastly Refuses to Discuss Spitting Incident - WDAF

In an interview on Tuesday with FOX 4 News, Rep. Cleaver would not directly answer the question of whether or not he was intentionally spit upon.

"I haven't talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I've been approached to talk about it on every national TV show," said Rep. Cleaver in an interview with FOX 4 News. "I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing. People assume I went somewhere, never done press conference, never done an interview on it and I'm not going to do it."

Rep. Cleaver says that he wants to put the incident behind him.

"All I'm saying is we all have to defuse it, and I think it is not in my best interest or in the best interest of this nation to stoke it," said Rep. Cleaver. "I've avoided doing and I will continue to do it."

Critics say that the issue is not going to go away.

"It incumbent upon him to down play it, if truly he's interested in diffusing the anger and hostility out there, then acknowledge it was a man just wanting to be heard," said conservative radio talk show host Chris Stigall.

But Rep. Cleaver is standing his ground on the incident. He says that if the spitting incident hadn't been caught on tape, no one would have ever known because he wouldn't have made it an issue.

Oh really? :lol::lol::lol:

Tea Party Protests: 'Ni**er,' 'Fa**ot' Shouted At Members Of Congress
But Clyburn was downright incredulous, saying he had not witnessed such treatment since he was leading civil rights protests in South Carolina in the 1960s.

"It was absolutely shocking to me," Clyburn said, in response to a question from the Huffington Post. "Last Monday, this past Monday, I stayed home to meet on the campus of Claflin University where fifty years ago as of last Monday... I led the first demonstrations in South Carolina, the sit ins... And quite frankly I heard some things today I have not heard since that day. I heard people saying things that I have not heard since March 15, 1960 when I was marching to try and get off the back of the bus."

"It doesn't make me nervous as all," the congressman said, when asked how the mob-like atmosphere made him feel. "In fact, as I said to one heckler, I am the hardest person in the world to intimidate, so they better go somewhere else."

UPDATE 6:55 PM ET: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver's office released the following statement:

For many of the members of the CBC, like John Lewis and Emanuel Cleaver who worked in the civil rights movement, and for Mr. Frank who has struggled in the cause of equality, this is not the first time they have been spit on during turbulent times.

This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.

This is not the first time the Congressman has been called the "n" word and certainly not the worst assault he has endured in his years fighting for equal rights for all Americans. That being said, he is disappointed that in the 21st century our national discourse has devolved to the point of name calling and spitting. He looks forward to taking a historic vote on health care reform legislation tomorrow, for the residents of the Fifth District of Missouri and for all Americans. He believes deeply that tomorrow's vote is, in fact, a vote for equality and to secure health care as a right for all. Our nation has a history of struggling each time we expand rights. Today's protests are no different, but the Congressman believes this is worth fighting for.

Liar liar pants on fire.

Sidenote: in no way do I endorse the literal setting of Emanuel Cleaver's pants on fire.

It Was a Setup?? Did State-Run Media Conspire on Racist Tea Party Attack - Big Government

Now Doug Ross found this—–

McClatchy released their story on the reported attacks on the Black Caucus members at 4:51 PM EST. The McClatchy reporter William Douglas refers to Huffington Post contributor Sam Snead as a source in his article.

But… The Huffington Post did not post their article until 4:56 PM EST:

Hmmm

It's so fun to have the truth on your side. :eusa_whistle:

Whats so hard about that?

I'd love to see you find a post of mine where I was defending that either once the facts started to come out.

They all do it, you know it, I know it, and we both know why. It sells.

Fact is, the days of hot lead are long since gone. But Breitbart reels 'em in. Either he can't do it himself, or he knows better and it's deliberate. If he is what he claims to be, it's obviously the latter. Again, no big deal except for the folks who swallow it.

Either way, who cares? Just something else that doesn't matter for a so-called pundit to spin for a buck.

Oh, I know YOU didn't. That was never my intent to imply that YOU did.

Thanks. I thought you had me confused with somebody else for a minute there.

This kind of non-story does burn me though, as did the rush on the original without checking the facts. I think of it as "Let them eat cake" journalism. Who has real reporting anymore, that isn't either full of spin and this kind of lucrative innuendo non-stories on one hand or simply parroting what they've been fed on the other?

I'd love to see real investigative journalism come back instead of blowdried fluffy teleprompter readers and partisan hacks, but those days are long gone and the bosses are broke and too beholden to the people they're supposed to be watching. It's a pet peeve I guess.

The voices in John Lewis's head told me so!

Dems are throwing napalm on the campfire

Yea the Democrats are just playing their old tried & true Race-Baiting & Class Warfare games taken straight out of Saul Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals.' These are old and tired games that just don't work for them like they used to. Most common sense thinking Americans see right through their B.S. at this point. Yea everyone's an "Evil Racist" & "Un-American Nazi" if they dare to oppose their Socialist/Progressive nightmare. I think that stuff has just p*ssed people off even more. 2010 could be an interesting year. Give the boot to the Socialists/Progressives in both parties. Elections can't get here fast enough as far as i'm concerned.

Why is Rep Lewis still in Congress? The Republicans should make a move to censure his fucking lying ass. He's the Duke Rape Accuser and the LAST thing we need is a race bating fucking liar in Congress.

Censure Rep Lewis!

Call him out! He's either hearing voices or he's throwing napalm on the campfire!

Heh, I was just reading Mark Steyn's take on that and he came to the same conclusion. "Congressman Lewis auditions for job as Duke University stripper". Funny line if the story were not so sad.

The Democrats' Fake Hate Crime - Mark Steyn - The Corner on National Review Online
I disagree with John Lewis (Democrat, Georgia) politically but I have always respected him as a genuine civil rights warrior. And I feel slightly queasy at the thought that he would dishonor both the movement and his own part in it for the cheapest of partisan points - in the same way I would be disgusted by a Holocaust survivor painting a swastika on his own door and blaming it on his next-door neighbor over a boundary dispute.

But that's what the Democratic Party has been reduced to - faking hate crimes as pathetically as any lonely, mentally ill college student. Congressmen Carson, Lewis, Cleaver and the rest have turned themselves into the Congressional equivalent of the Duke University stripper. Except that they're not some penniless loser but a group of important, influential lifetime legislators enjoying all the privileges and perquisites of power, and in all probability acting at the behest of the Democrat leadership.

Isn't that what societies with functioning media used to call "a story"?

What is it about the Left and fake hate crimes? There are enough real crimes in the world.

I wonder if someone associated with the White House orchestrated the spreading of the Tea Party "n-word" Meme.

What's Yosi Sergant up to these days?

Without racial and class division the Democrats cannot win elections. They just don't have much to run on. Race-Baiting & Class Warfare are the anchors of their platform. If there are no racial tensions in a community, you can bet you will quickly see Democrats flocking there to incite such tensions. This is a Saul Alinsky 'Rules for Radicals' tactic. Just check these rules out and read the parts about what it takes to be a "Good Community Organizer." Hopefully Americans are getting wise to this Democrat game. I guess we'll see though. Make 2010 count people.

It was rather obvious the media reported what they hoped would happen instead of what actually happened.

It pretty much has blown up in their faces now.

If you had any understanding of the process, you wouldn't be asking that.

I believe the very reason these black Democrats walked right through the crowd, when they could of used a tunnel was to drum up this very kind of attack.

our government, especially the Democrat party and the Lamestream media has become a enemy to us American citizens. people better wake up and soon.
