Here’s a thought.... increase supply to exceed the demand and expand the transport and refinery options to leave US less susceptible to a disruption based on global supply and demand and/or disruption. The guy/gal in the White House won’t do such a move. Therefore, they are accountable for higher gas prices; especially when they refuse to do anything about it. Blaming capitalists is not viable.

The profit margins for the oil business hover around 7%. You don't want capitalism, you want cheap oil like the oil business runs on altruism.

When your entire economy is tied to oil, who doesn’t want oil to be as affordable as possible? Since you brought profit margins into it, the governments make substantially more in the price of gas than do the oil and gas companies.

Cheap oil causes US producers NOT to invest in rigs, drilling, exploration or new refineries.

If oil and gas are cost-prohibitive, consumption declines. Then what do the oil producers do? In your scenario, market efficiency will limit the number of oil and gas firms (optimal number of suppliers).

We all knew what was going to happen if the Progressive Socialists came back into power. They have the god complex going on. They are right in everything they do but much of it ends up in flames. Extreme feminism has given a certain percentage of the women in the work force that have decent jobs with many of them taking jobs that men should be doing and are being denied. Most of the rest have to work and not have the choice of working. So we have many single mothers working and raising children and struggling. We have many married women doing the same. Taxes have risen massively to put women in the workforce over the last half century and it has helped to keep raise in salaries down. An there are women today who want to get married and men are not into it. The consequences of some victories can make things sour.
