Liberals Had a 5-4/6-3 Supreme Court Majority for Over 40 Years

In the last 50 years, 13 justices have been appointed by Republicans, 4 have been appointed by Democrats

Liberals had a 5-4/6-3 majority on the Supreme Court for over 40 years from the late 1950s to the early 2000s. Did Republicans even suggest packing the court or "rotating justices," much less attempt to do so, even when they took control of the Senate in 1982 and again in 1994? No. But liberal Democrats, being a bunch of whining babies who can't stand to lose, now want to pack the court because, heaven forbid, we now have a reliable 5-4 conservative majority for perhaps 10 years, 15-20 years.
some of the older conservative judges should retire so that Trump can replace them with younger conservatives judges

And positive rulings were done by the more liberal American values courts. Sad that injustice has returned to the highest court in the land. Those hurt are always the least powerful. And so it goes....

"Few American institutions have inflicted greater suffering on ordinary people than the Supreme Court of the United States. Since its inception, the justices of the Supreme Court have shaped a nation where children toiled in coal mines, where Americans could be forced into camps because of their race, and where a woman could be sterilized against her will by state law. Injustices

Aside from your "It was a better time when I got decisions I agreed with, because I'm just SOO MORAL" schtick, did you have something to say about the actual topic?

I had to, I just had to. LOL

But seriously. So long as the gop maj upholds STATE supreme court's decisions that interpret STATE laws on counting ballots, I don't see the bitch. But the fed govt has the power to ensure the 14th amend guarantees of equal protection and due process apply to ALL people in federal elections … even when we don't like ALL people for any reason … be they the wrong color or the wrong party.
because they likely feel they are in a free fall and looking for any victory they can get. human nature but wow are they pushing it to an extreme.

i don't care which side "owns" the supreme court. i care they make decisions off the constitution, not what they wish the constitution to be or to correct it's "failings".

if we need to consider redoing our supreme court great. but it must be done together to create something that works for both sides as evenly as possible. by nature one side will feel "favored" and again - human nature. but we also see judges make decisions that are not necessarily along party lines.

it should never be done cause you lost and demand power back. nothing in our gov should change due to that.
But the OP is false. GOP poutes have nominatd a maj since about 1972

The Court has been decidedly Conservative for 50 years with Republican Presidents filling the most seats.

LOL! Eee-gads! Decidedly conservative? Who are you? Heard of Roe v. Wade? The Miranda decision? Heard of the Warren Court? Heard of the Burger Court? Heard of all the decisions in the 60s, 70s, and 80s that took prayer out of school, banned the display of the Ten Commandments in school, banned prayer at high school football games, banned Nativity plays in school, etc., etc., etc.? Any of this ringing a bell?

Yes, Republican presidents nominated the majority of justices between 1960 and 2000, but many of the Republican nominees were not conservatives. For example, Ike appointed Earl Warren, and Bush Sr. appointed David Souter. How do you suppose all those liberal decisions occurred in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s?

Good grief. Your reply will go down as one of the most goofiest gaffes ever published on an Internet forum. Where did you learn history?
All over 40-50 years ago.

There hasn’t been a predominantly Liberal court since the 1960s
The Supreme Court is one of many courts. And a lot of Prog Socialist decisions enforced on the people.

The dems haven't had a SC majority since 91.

.

Despite holding the WH 16 years to the gop's 12 out of the last 28 years, and that's even counting Souter (an HW appointee) as not a gop

I get that a deep-as-a-mud-puddle leftist doesn't understand anything so complicated as looking at people's actions, rather than their labels, but trust me. The SC has skewed left for as long as I can remember. Who the Justices in question were appointed by is irrelevant. That's like saying my crazy-ass TDS sister must be a Republican because both my parents were.

We may see some retirements once he has his second term.

Frankly, Breyer should retire. The man's older than dirt, and I don't even remember the last time we heard anything from him. Most people have forgotten he exists. But it won't happen if Trump wins.

I hope you also understand that incoherent post, because I doubt anyone else did.

Can you point out just one conservative or even a neutral Justice picked by a democrat president?

In the last 50 years, Democrats have selected Liberals, Republicans have selected Conservatives.

Republicans have picked three times the number of Justices that Dems have

You have dodged what I have asked. The republicans have picked conservative, liberal and middle of the road Justices.
The democrats have just picked liberal justices.

Oh BS
Having said that, the more liberal the justice, the further away we get from the Constitution.

The supreme court has been a republican/conservative picked supreme court majority, with also a republican conservative picked supreme court chief justice at the helm, for over 50 years.
