The liberal media did not disappoint last night.

Silly and loaded questions were frequent and the bias toward the liberal agenda was clear

The Politico Executive Editor Jim VandeHei had some really slanted questions

To Mitt Romney :

"What do you dislike most about America?'"

To Rudy Giuliani, “Bradley Winter of New York would like to know if there's anything you learned, or regret, during your time as Mayor in your dealings with the African-American community?”

To Mike Huckabee, “Thousands of reputable scientists have concluded, with almost certainty, that human activity is responsible for the warming of the Earth. Do you believe global warming exists?”

Later, to Tom Tancredo: “Will you work to protect women's rights, as in fair wages and reproductive choice

Not to be outdown, Chris Matthews stepped up with his usual anti Republican shots

To former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore. "Is Karl Rove your friend?"

Matthews then asked the candidates if they approved of the idea of having former president Bill Clinton back in the White House:

“Would it be good for America to have Bill Clinton back living in the White House?” he wondered.

and libs said Fox news was biased

At least Fox news would have asked real questions

It was nice to see 10 Republican candidates talk about the issues, and not make some stink over the venue of the debate

What were you expecting VandeHei to do......give massages and oral sex to the candidates?

Try asking legit questions?

and Dems said they would not appear on Fox News due to bias

Chris Matthews as moderator - the libs chicken out on FOX, but these guys let a clearly biased Matthews moderate their debate on the most biased cable network. Who fears what here...hmmmmmmmm.

And the winner is...

The gulf between the GOP presidential candidates and the American people was clearest during the debate when Chris Matthews reminded the group that their hostess Nancy Reagan supports federal funding for stem-cell research, as most American voters do. One by one the candidates told Mrs. Reagan they disagreed with her. Finally McCain and Giuliani, hemming and hawing some, said they support certain kinds of federal stem-cell research funding -- I think. But neither man used the opportunity to give such research a ringing endorsement, even with the political cover provided by Nancy Reagan's presence. Later McCain was asked if he believed in evolution, and he had to pause and think before finally replying "Yes." (Whew!) But when the question was opened to the entire field, three of the men -- Brownback, Tancredo and one other Republican I think was Huckabee, they didn't hold the shot long enough -- said they did not.

Against that backdrop, after blowing the Roe v. Wade question, Rudy Giuliani gets a few make-up points for quietly and nervously telling the crowd that while he opposes abortion personally, "I would respect a woman's right to make that choice differently." McCain, Giuliani, Romney and Thompson said Congress was wrong to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case; Brownback and Tancredo said Congress did the right thing. Maybe the GOP has learned a tiny political lesson since former Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist (where is he now?) diagnosed Terri Schiavo after seeing videos of her and endorsed efforts to keep her alive. Yes, I'm an optimist.

There were few surprises. McCain may get points for more "straight talk," but to me he just seemed angry, and he will likely regret his soundbite saying "We're on the right track" in Iraq down the road; Romney is still an empty suit for me, though it was nice to see him embrace his own Massachussetts health-care reform after appearing to run away from it, but otherwise he was a smile and a haircut, (did he remind anyone else of Will Farrell's Ron Burgundy?); Giuliani was wildly uneven, sometimes shaky, sometimes strong, but never presidential, and he couldn't have helped himself with any constituency for his wide range of answers on abortion; none of the second-tier candidates jumped out from the pack. The clear winner: Fred Thompson. And the Democrats.

No debate on the debate format; it was bad from start to finish. Last week NBC's Brian Williams at least controlled the terms and the tempo with discipline. Chris Matthews's desire to be liked came through, and he had a hard time cutting people off, so many of the candidates got more time than alloted. He all but turned the mike over to Gov. Tommy Thompson at one point, telling him, "Actually, you can respond to anything you want," and Thompson gave a stump speech. Matthews also asked an unforgivable softball, cheap-shot question, "Would it be a good thing for the country to have Bill Clinton back in the White House?" and let the chuckling Republicans tee-off. Democrats definitely got tougher treatment.

On the other hand, some Republicans might complain that their candidates didn't get tougher treatment. They certainly weren't served by letting it all hang out.

So Dems do not like Republicans? What else is new

The AP reporter posted her coverage of the Dem debate 45 minutes before it started

Of course, you know what the entire debate was about:

Blame Bush

There is no doubt that the "What do you dislike most about America?" question was the dumbest question I have ever seen asked in a Presidential Debate, primary or otherwise.

Matthews should be ashamed. With such little time for each candidate, the time should have been used more effectively. It wasn't.

What were you expecting VandeHei to do......give massages and oral sex to the candidates?

Dont be an idiot.

I know the democrats think lying under doesnt matter, and oral sex isnt sex, but oral sex is sex, and lying under oath is perjury and is against the law.

Also, I expected chris matthew to be fair and ask legit questions and now cut everyone off. Guess I cant expect that from ms(sucks)nbc and chris(im a flaming lib who worked for tipper o'neal/democratic hack) Mathews to be fair.

is chris mathews smarter then a 5th grader.

Because a 5th grader could have asked better questions, with more intellegence and relevence then he did.

There was one good question:

"Senator McCain, the white population of America was in 1965 at 90 percent. Today, it's 70 percent. By 2040, whites will be the minority. What will you do to protect them?"

Oh, wait.

Nobody asked that question.

im fine with the question as long as the follow up to it is not, will you also take steps to hang the coon, burn the ****, and shoot the Guke. :p

I am looking for the world statistic, but I have one somewhere that talks about the white percentage of the world population, 100 years ago, now, and 100 years from now. It might make you stop laughing. By the numbers, yes, whites are going extinct.

Then perhaps we should help the white man along by forcing Jews to breed.

How'd you like a world of Jews?

Olbermann's Anti-Bush Debate Coverage, Republicans 'Belligerent' Toward Iran
Posted by Brad Wilmouth on May 5, 2007 - 19:56.
During Thursday's Republican presidential debate, which was dominated by questions that sounded like they were made up by liberal bloggers, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, known for his many anti-conservative and anti-Bush rants, got to anchor the cable network's debate coverage. While the MSNBC anchor was relatively more subdued than usual, his anti-Bush bias still shined through as he interviewed several of the Republican candidates and asked them questions displaying his interest in whether the candidates were critical of President Bush. Olbermann also suggested that the Republican candidates appeared "very belligerent and very willing to turn to military solutions, at least keep them on the table on the subject of Iran." (Transcript follows)

Thursday's debate occurred just over a week after Olbermann's "Special Comment" attack on Rudy Giuliani in which he accused the former mayor of "doing bin Laden's work for him" because Giuliani had argued that a Republican President would protect America more effectively than a Democratic President because a Democrat would "play defense" in the war on terrorism. After the debate, Olbermann expressed wonder as to why Giuliani early on made debate comments about Bill Clinton that sounded like an "olive branch" before the former mayor later repeated his charge that a Democrat would have America "playing defense." Olbermann: "Was there a, did Mr. Giuliani correct course today? Did somebody send him a note under his door that said, 'Don't go out there and be nice to the Democrats under any circumstances?'" The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson suggested that the mayor's soft comments on Bill Clinton were inspired by Giuliani's own marital problems.
