Larry Elder attacked in California

He said they did in England. Immediately after that, he said you could make the argument that they should get reparations. Considering how clearly that was stated in the video, the only two options are that you either didn't bother to watch the video, or you are too brainwashed to accept reality over right wing propaganda.
I listened very carefully to what Elder said. He was right.

Larry Elder and Team Targeted by Egg Throwing Attack in Los Angeles

Multiple people, including a woman wearing a gorilla mask, threw eggs at Republican California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Videos of the incident appear to show an egg being thrown toward Elder as he walked through the Venice neighborhood with members of his campaign team during a trip to the community to address the homeless crisis. One of Elder’s staffers puts his arm on the Republican’s back and warns, “We’re getting egged from behind.”

Moments later, someone launched a second egg toward the candidate and his team. The video does not show whether Elder was hit by the eggs during the attack.

Several people became aggressive with Elder’s staff.

The woman in the gorilla mask appeared to slap a staffer in the face, while a man shouted at Elder that he is a “piece of sh**” as the candidate was escorted away from the situation.

Can any guess what would have happened if someone, wearing a gorilla mask had thrown eggs and attacked staffers of President Obama?
The only thing the statist left loves more than cutting down nazis is their love for acting like nazis!

Can anyone provide an analysis on why Larry lost so badly?
Or is 20 pages too soon for everybody to stop throwing shit at each other?

If I may, I'm not sure if that's the proper question to ask. The real question is, why did Gavin Newsom garner so much support?

Keep in mind there were two questions, the first on whether or not to recall the governor, and the second was which candidate would replace the governor if the governor was recalled. It wasn't a direct contest of Gavin vs. Elder (plus the other 45 candidates on the ballot), although the strategy by the pro-Gavin campaign was to paint it as such.

So question 2 on who was preferred to replace Gavin, Larry Elder won overwhelmingly by (at current unofficial results) 47% with the next closest candidate at 9.8% (a Democrat). So the Elder campaign succeeded in that aspect.

To compare to the 2003 Gubernatorial campaign which successfully recalled Governor Gray Davis, the highest vote-getter was Arnold Schwarzenegger who garnered 48.6% of the vote with the next closest candidate at 31.5%. Schwarzenegger is by far more famous world-wide, so Larry Elder, a moderately known political commentator did fine. Elder got a lot of passionate interest like Schwarzenegger did. [For the record, I did vote for Larry Elder; I did not vote for Schwarzenegger]

So the question becomes why did Californians in total vote against the recall? Did blind partisanship play a greater role this time around? The events of California in recent years would seem more dire than the events in 2003, such continual fire seasons with forest mismanagement, poor water storage policies, unconstitutional and hypocritical dictates in regards to the pandemic, early release of dangerous prisoners, ever-increasing high taxes, a huge outflow of population and jobs to other states, to name but a few issues.

The problem (or benefit from Newsom's perspective) of population loss is those who have already sought greener pastures in other states are no longer around to vote against the policies that Newsom advocates. Shifting populations have affected political affiliations to the point that Republicans can no longer win state offices.

This was the last chance to unseat a corrupt, power-hungry governor and the voters failed. They could have even replaced Newsom with another Democrat who might have thought twice about abusing power. But nope. Now there is nothing to stop Newsom except maybe the courts.

That's the question and it's also the talking points used to take down Newsom, but I don't think the people bought it. It seems to me that the people bought into the handling of Covid mostly.

That couldn't work against Newsom in California and now it's becoming doubtful it can work for any other Republican. The Republican party and Trump own the denial and they will have to spin it to make it work.
You raise an arguable issue when you mentioned 'hypocritical dictates'. Is that something you would be interested in expanding upon?

Of special interest to me, from a Canadian POV is your mention of early release of dangerous prisoners. I'm of pretty much the opposite opinion as are the world's leading democracies.
But I have to frame them as something different than 'dangerous prisoners'. They are the very few out of all those being released. It's a topic that's worthy of much discussion of course.

The prime example of hypocrisy that helped fuel the recall drive was the "French Laundry" incident. It was an incident that we've seen with many politicians, but to recap, Gavin Newsom was at the birthday dinner of a lobbyist at a fancy restaurant called the The French Laundry, and pictures came out of him hobnobbing with political friends inside, mask-less, not socially distancing. But this was during the pandemic where he advocated don't go out and visit family during the holidays to prevent the spread of the virus. Rules for us, not for the political elites.

This is the same person who can thumb his nose at federal policies such as harboring illegal aliens, but expects Californians to obey his orders, shutting down so-called "non-essential" businesses and other economic-busting policies.

Yeah, I heard about the restaurant thing but the voters seemed to ignore it. It really does look like the Covid issue was the factor with voters either taking it seriously or going with Trump's efforts.

If Covid continues to kill people the r's aren't going to want to continue to have to own it anymore.
