It looks like out with the old and in with the new. The King has dismissed many appointments and brought in new people of his own choice.

I know so little about Saudi politics that my only take on this
personnel turnover is that the new king of the rock is
not entirely passive

Bandar has been ruffling feathers for awhile. Mistakes with Syria, conflict between the sects. The move should ease ties with the US. I think he was somehow involved in an attempted coup around 5 yrs ago. Too many princes, I don't follow the Saud soap opera.

Under these cronies, shiite Iran became a powerful player, Yemen fell and is threatening Saudi Arabia, and ISIS is out of control. They had to go. A new realignment will occur, possibly even an openly friendly relationship with Israel, thanks to Hussien Obama's romance with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I am not particularly learned in the subject of English

which is a kind of complex interwoven thing that
becomes progressively complicated and absurd and
kind of tragically humorous-----at the end it resolves into
a normal simple situation. I think "Midsummer night dream" is a farce. I know that "the importance of being

constitute a giant EPIC ---FARCE

Most of these regimes are ramp with cronyism and bribery. The only reason Bandar was still in power was his connections to the deceased King. Now that he's gone, his brother can install his own cronies.

Too sick to transfer to U.S. hospital...

Saudi King Hospitalized for Dementia
October 6, 2015 - Informed sources told Arabic-language al-Ahd news agency that King Salman is now in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) section of King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the Saudi capital.
The sources also said that given the Saudi king's unstable and aggravating health conditions, officials have ceased plans to transfer him to US hospitals. King Salman, 80, is thought to have Alzheimer’s or dementia and the government is practically administered by his Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef.

Sources revealed on Tuesday that Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz has been hospitalized in Riyadh and is now in critical health conditions.

According to witnesses, his exact state of dementia is a source of speculation but he is known to have held cogent conversations as recently as last October. He can also forget what he said minutes ago, or faces he has known all his life. This is typical of the disease.

Sources close to the Saudi monarchy revealed earlier this year that the number of hospital visits by King Salman in the last few months has increased and that he did not walk around, as he did before.

A house divided: How Saudi Crown Prince purged royal family rivals
November 10, 2017 - The first hint that something was amiss came in a letter.
On Saturday Nov. 4, guests at Riyadh’s Ritz Carlton were notified by the opulent hotel that: “Due to unforeseen booking by local authorities which requires an elevated level of security, we are unable to accommodate guests ... until normal operations are restored.” The purge was already under way. Within hours security forces had rounded up dozens of members of Saudi Arabia’s political and business elite, mostly in the capital and the coastal city of Jeddah. Among them were 11 princes as well as ministers and wealthy tycoons.

Some were invited to meetings where they were detained. Others were arrested at their homes and flown to Riyadh or driven to the Ritz Carlton, which has been turned into a temporary prison. The detainees were allowed a single, brief phone call home, a person familiar with the arrests told Reuters. “They don’t receive calls and are kept under tight security. No one can go in or out,” the insider said. “It is obvious that there was a lot of preparation for it.”

The purge was ordered by 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Officially next in line to the throne to his father, King Salman, he is now in effect running the country which he has said he will transform into a modern state. To do that - and in an attempt to shore up his own power - he has decided to go after the Saudi elite, including some members of the royal family, on accusations such as taking bribes and inflating the cost of business projects. Those arrested could not be reached for comment.

At stake is political stability in the world’s largest oil producer. The Crown Prince’s ability to rule unchallenged depends on whether the purge is successful. The Crown Prince believes that unless the country changes, the economy will sink into a crisis that could fan unrest. That could threaten the royal family and weaken the country in its regional rivalry with Iran. Saudi royal family arrests: tmsnrt.rs/2AjCNiQ
