Pendersoli kit, everything comes fitted but the furniture is rough and some metal pieces need filing, sanding and polishing. compaired to my Fusil de Chasse the Pendersoli kit is easy.

Here's the way it comes, some parts are still in the box.

Here's how it looks now after shaving wood and filing most of the metal pieces.

I still have a little work to do on the ramrod tubes and the end cap then I need to strip the bluing off the barrel and sights then brown the barrel and sights. Finally will finish sanding then staining the furniture and adding a few coats of tung oil.

That's a nice job!

Looks great. Love them sparkers.

Flintlock pistol was my first build I wasn't driving a car yet. I got a bunch of parts, piece of kentucky barrel cut off (10") and a decent lock. Rest is ALL handmade. Trigger guard was a brass drawer pull cut and re soldered, looks like one too! It's a 36, still around somewhere. Forged my decorative trigger, came out too cool for school.

Yes those Fusils from Track require lots of work.

Ever try mustard as a quick browning touchup or brown a project you don't really care about deep plum brown. Notice mustard, onion etc will brown a carbon steel knife almost instantly, works on barrels too.

I have the furniture sanded and polished smooth, 80 grit, 150 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit, 400 grit and finished off with quad odd steel wool. It's ready for staining and oiling.
Next make a wood plug for the barrel and touch hole then soak the barrel in white vinegar to remove the blueing. Haven't decided yet whether I'm going to draw file the top three flats on the barrel, doing so will get rid of Pendersoli stamps and make it an oz or so lighter. The damn barrel is heavy. Also going to do a neat little trick I learned recently, the small wooden tang that the nose cap covers apparently has a tendency to snap off with heavy loads. Drill down to before the first ramrod tube pin and install pins in the front facing down the length of the furniture.

The lighting isn't great so it still looks like I need to finish polishing.

Here's a picture of the nose cap tang pins I installed to strengthen the wooden tang. I used 2/32" pins, small finish nails work just as well.

Nice looking piece. A cousin of mines like making BP weapons. If you end up with a nice one resist overloading them, as they will wear out easily and stuff will crack and warp sooner than later. My cousin has babied a .60 rifle along for almost 15 years now.
