Kavanaugh explained the case this way: "That was a group that was being forced to provide a certain kind of coverage over their religious objection to their employees. And under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the question was first was this a substantial burden on the religious exercise."

"It seemed to me quite clearly it was. It was a technical matter of filling out a form. In that case they said filling out the form would make them complicit in the provision of the abortion-inducing drugs that they were, as a religious matter, objecting to."

That phrase, "abortion-inducing drugs," is one the right-wing glommed onto to intentionally confuse contraception with other drugs.

The man thinks that the pill is an abortion inducing drug.

If he's against birth control you know you can kiss Roe V Wade goodbye.

He's trying to pretend otherwise but the e-mails that the Dems released (over the objection if the GOP creeps) showed he clearly thinks he can and should overturn it

True.

Unfortunately, even if Kavanaugh fails to be confirmed, the Heritage Foundation and other rightwing entities will find another reactionary extremist hostile to settled, accepted precedent and the rule of law.

Your desperation is duly noted!

So what are you saying? That Religious Organizations like Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor should be forced to pay abortion contrary to their religious beliefs?

I don't see this as a "rove v wade" situation, but more of a simple first amendment/free exercise of religion case.

Should an islamonazi deli be forced to sell bacon? Should a Hindu restaurant be forced to serve sacred cow steaks? Where do we draw the line?

Of course he is. Anyone who believes in the constitution is to your kind. Also there is no provision in the constitution for killing your unborn child.

mark meadows is a dumbass and make me ashamed to be in nc
???

did you mean to post this in another thread?

on topic, Catholics and other Christian groups do have religious objections to the pill, the right to practice one's religion is actually spelled out in the Constitution; abortion was made legal by court order

why should the State be able to force a religious organization to provide services or pay for services that are expressly against their religious beliefs?

I don't need a law degree to know that contraction is not abortion and those who make that claim are extremists

So you support overturning Roe v Wade.

Congrats.

So does the Kav. In fact it sounds like he would outlaw the pill as well

Your ignorance is glaringly obvious, there are huge differences between normal birth control pills and drugs designed to induce an abortion. They are completely different classes of drugs.

Of course you lying propagandist try to confuse your low information constituency by saying it's all the same. Kind of the way you try to conflate illegal aliens with legal immigrants. It all the deceit of the propagandist.

i agree and you are the one in denial...seems trump voters live in denial

How is your denial working about this?

Layoffs Just Reached a Half-Century Low
With too-few candidates, businesses hold tight to workers

WASHINGTON—The number of Americans filing applications for new unemployment benefits fell at the end of August to a nearly five-decade low.

Initial jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs across the U.S., declined to a seasonally adjusted 203,000 in the last week of August, the Labor Department said Thursday. This is the lowest level of unemployment benefit applications since the end of 1969. Though data can be volatile from week to week, the four-week moving average of claims, a steadier measure, also fell to a 49-year low, signaling overwhelming tightness in the U.S. labor market.

“Job openings are plentiful, and the competition for skilled workers is intensifying,” said Jim Baird, chief investment officer at Plante Moran Financial Advisors. “Employers are remiss to trim their respective workforces, particularly in an environment in which attracting and retaining workers is tougher.”
