IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.



AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.



THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.



THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.



WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?



REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!



WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Sandy, sorry to bust your bubble, but...

If everyone plans to not buy gas on 5/19, how many of them will go buy some on 5/18 to make up for it? Or wait until 5/20 to buy it? In the short run, it might create a cash flow problem with some gas stations. In the long run , it will do absolutely nothing. If you want to save money on gas, decrease your demand by not driving so much: carpool, use mass transit, consolidate errands, skip the Memorial Day road trip, etc. That will decrease demand in the long run and put pressure on gas companies to decrease gas prices.

You have to remember, though, that oil has risen from $30/bbl to $40/bbl - a 33% increase. So it would be reasonable to see a 33% increase in gas prices. Here in WA, our gas prices have gone from about $1.55/gallon a couple of months ago to about $2.10/gallon - a 35.4% increase. Then, take into consideration that gas prices increase every summer due to increased demand and increased environmental restrictions.

The problem is surely getting out of control,whether we skip it on 5-19 or not. I was at the gas station this morning and was putting 5 bucks in and the cashier said"are you sure you don't want more". I asked her why and if prices were about to go up. She said she had just got a call and they told her at 10:00 a.m. to raise it from 1.91 to 2.05!!! I went ahead and got ten bucks anyway becuase I neede to fill the car up for the moving this weekend. It's sad,when I got my car 5 years ago it took 10 bucks to fill up,now over 20. I know that is nothing compared to the SUV's and trucks though. My step father in law is a truck driver ans it takes him $600 to go from Columbus,Ohio to New York!!!
