Some wit penned this bon mot: "The fact that there is a highway to hell and only a stairway to heaven recognizes a great deal about the human condition."

And about the press.
.... nowhere is that a more glaring reality than in what we call journalism.
The corruption in this once vaunted profession is, in fact, the only reason that Bill's wife is even competitive.

1. Newspaperman Peter Zenger criticized, and then stood up to the NYC administration of Bill Cosby (really!) and was sued for libel (1735). Alexander Hamilton was his lawyer.
"In defending Zenger in this landmark case, Hamilton and Smith attempted to establish the precedent that a statement, even if defamatory, is not libelous if it can be proved, thus affirming freedom of the press in America;..."

a. The essence of the profession's mission was coined over a century latter....thus:
"The job of the newspaper is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."
The famous quote is about a hundred years old and can be traced to the work of Finley Peter Dunne, one of the great journalists of the day, who wrote about politics and the culture.

2. The Founders understood the importance of a critical media, and memorialized its special position in the first amendment, based on the understanding that it would provide an unbiased understanding for the electorate, so they could make their vote an informed decision.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

3. The media has not lived up to its end of the bargain.
Today it has assumed a new role, commensurate with their political purpose:

Yet....one of the elitist fools let the cat out of the bag:
"Kerry to the Media: Cover Terrorism Less, So 'People Wouldn't Know What's Going On’
In his remarks in Bangladesh on Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry explicitly asked the media to cover terrorism less, so "people wouldn't know what's going on." The line also drew applause from the audience.
He then suggested, "Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn't cover it quite as much. People wouldn't know what's going on."

4. While the attempts by the radicals of the 60s failed to burn down the universities.....they did far worse:

a. The radicals of the sixties did not remain within the universities…They realized that the apocalypse never materialized. “…they were dropping off into environmentalism and consumerism and fatalism…I watched many of my old comrades apply to graduate school in universities they had failed to burn down, so they could get advanced degrees and spread the ideas that had been discredited in the streets under an academic cover.”
Collier and Horowitz, “Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About The Sixties,” p. 294-295.

b. “The radicals were not likely to go into business or the conventional practice of the professions. They were part of the chattering class, talkers interested in policy, politics, culture. They went into politics, print and electronic journalism, church bureaucracies, foundation staffs, Hollywood careers, public interest organizations, anywhere attitudes and opinions could be influenced. And they are exerting influence.” Robert H. Bork, “Slouching Toward Gomorrah,” p. 51

5. Today, the very same anti-American radicals own and operate the media.
"Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Jr. is Publisher of The New York Times newspaper and Chairman of The New York Times Company....As an adolescent he moved in with his father in Manhattan, grew his hair long, became immersed in the 1960s counter-culture, and was twice arrested in anti-Vietnam War demonstrations.

During this era, Punch Sulzberger asked his activist son: “If an American soldier runs into a North Vietnamese soldier, which would you like to see get shot?” “I would want to see the American get shot,” replied the young man. “It's the other guy's country.”

6. When I use this phrase, the mouth-foaming will begin....but it is in fact the mission statement of the profession:
"We Report, You Decide."

That is exactly what news reporting should be.

Be very clear: this is not in any way limiting editorial comments, nor opinion pieces....the top of the pyramid in this regard, Bill O'Reilly, openly admits that he is not reporting news.....he clearly states his occupation:
".... is an American television host, author, journalist, syndicated columnist, and political commentator."
Bill O'Reilly (political commentator) - Wikipedia

If the difference between reporter and journalist, versus opinion writer and political commentator is too nuanced for you,....
...well then, you must be a reliable Democrat voter.

7. The corruption of the vocation since it was taken over by Liberals was revealed prior to the election that they manipulated....2008....by the "Journolist Scandal"

"Daily Caller reporter Jonathan Strong lays out a strategy plotted by Journolist members to kill the Jeremiah Wright story during the 2008 primaries — and to smear Barack Obama’s critics as racists:....members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. ...took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger .....

.... urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.

….a campaign by professional journalists to tell ABC not to ask tough questions about a candidate’s links to radicals…take one of them — Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes *them* sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.”

It certainly puts efforts by the Left to paint the Tea Party as racist in an entirely new light. It also calls into question the ethics and judgment of anyone who participated in that Ackerman thread."

Disagree with their political sentiments??? Well...then....use the media to smear their reputations.
Journalism Couldn't Sink Lower ....

8. Did I say 'Journalism Couldn't Sink Lower ....'???

It could, and did.

Now, 'journalists' actually send their work over to the Democrats to get 'permission' and 'corrections' before they dare criticize the Liberal/Democrat candidate.

Glenn Thrush says 'I have become a hack' in offering Podesta chance to censor his article
by Edmund Kozak | Updated 17 Oct 2016 at 8:03 PM

The latest trove of emails released by WikiLeaks Monday proves even further collusion between large, ostensibly mainstream media outlets and the Democratic Party.

In an astonishing email, Politico chief White House political correspondent and senior staff writer Glenn Thrush ran his latest article by Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta to make sure nothing offended the Clinton henchman." 9. Whether by telling only half the story....or by publishing the lies the Left wishes, the malfeasance of the 'profession' has broken the contract that journalism had with the Founders.
A law suit is the proper response.....as in a recent case.... where the malice of the journalist is duly noted...and the 'journalist' found guilty.

If only it were a regular occurrence.

One example:
The Left has advanced the lie that white males are lurking at every college waiting to rape poor unsuspecting coeds...part of the need by Democrats of the female vote: the subtext is that only the Democrats are there to protect them.

a. " For years, advocates for colleges to do more to prevent and punish sexual assault on campus have cited a 2007 federal statistic that one in five female students experience sexual assault in college. President Obama and members of Congress have used the statistic, as have many others." New survey finds 1 in 5 college women have experienced sexual assault | InsideHigherEd

b. "A new report on sexual assault released today by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officially puts to bed the bogus statistic that one in five women on college campuses are victims of sexual assault. ... the real number of assault victims is several orders of magnitude lower than one-in-five.

The full study, which was published by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, a division within DOJ, found that rather than one in five female college students becoming victims of sexual assault, the actual rate is 6.1 per 1,000 students, or 0.61 percent(instead of 1-in-5, the real number is 0.03-in-5). For non-students, the rate of sexual assault is 7.6 per 1,000 people."
New DOJ Data On Sexual Assaults Students Are Less Likely To Be Raped

"....6.1 per 1,000 students, or 0.61 percent (instead of 1-in-5, the real number is 0.03-in-5)."

Get that??? -->0.03in five!!!!

OK....who's gonna tell Obama?
Who's gonna call the Liberal liars on it?

Not the press....they work tirelessly to keep the fable going, so as to mobilize the women's voter for their compatriots.

Until now.......coming right up!

10. Finally.....some good news!

Reporter held responsible for lying....and the malice attached to support for the Liberal line.

"Jury finds reporter, Rolling Stone responsible for defaming U-Va. dean with gang rape story

CHARLOTTESVILLE — A federal court jury decided Friday that a Rolling Stone journalist defamed a former University of Virginia associate dean in a 2014 magazine article about sexual assault on campus that included a debunked account of a fraternity gang rape.

.... the Rolling Stone reporter, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, was responsible for defamation, with actual malice, ...

The jury also found the magazine and its parent company, Wenner Media, responsible for defaming Eramo, who has said her life’s work helping sexual assault victims was devastated as a result of Rolling Stone’s article and its aftermath.
The lawsuit centered on Erdely’s 9,000-word article titled “A Rape on Campus,” .... with a graphic depiction of a fraternity gang rape, the story caused an immediate sensation at a time of heightened awareness of campus sexual assault, going viral online and reverberating through the U-Va. community.

...key elements of the account fell apart under scrutiny, including the narrative’s shocking allegation of a fraternity gang rape. The magazine eventually retracted the story in April 2015, and Eramo’s lawsuit came a month later, alleging that the magazine’s portrayal of her as callous and dismissive of rape reports on campus was untrue and unfair."

This part of the article...
"Erdely had “a preconceived story line” and acted with “reckless disregard” by ignoring conflicting information in her reporting..... was complete fiction, ...."
...seems to give new standing to much of what Dennis Trump has claimed.

The Crooked Media is off the charts. They orchestrate the content to conform to the Crooked Hillary campaign. That's one reason they were so freaked out with the FBI reopening the Crooked Hillary investigation into her handling of classified documents as Sec. of State. An actual news item they had not rehearsed for. Watched some MSNBC just now and those loons were acting like the election was over which is going to backfire since the democrat dummies who think the liars tell the truth will not bother to vote on Tuesday.

"The Mainstream Media Has Betrayed Its Constitutional Privilege

I have had several conversations with people in the past few days who are completely unaware of just how bad things have gotten in Portland. Many of these people do pay a fair amount of attention to the news, but they’ve still missed the Portland stuff.
Because it’s not in the news. It is perhaps the biggest news in the country, but it isn’t being reported.
Portland doesn’t fit the narrative. In fact, it destroys the narrative.

Modern American news media is engaged in a daily abuse of its First Amendment privileges. Originally tasked with speaking truth to power, the MSM now is, for the most part, the power. Well, the power for the Left.
What the MSM is doing is a blatant perversion of the rights given to it by the First Amendment. Rather than being freedom’s voice, the American mainstream media is now tyranny’s hammer."
