I wasn't alive when the Jonestown cult murder/suicide happened, so I didn't know the full story until I watched this documentary.

The documentary has a lot of reenactments, but the actors/actresses in the documentary are quite good. The actor who plays Jim Jones is especially good. What makes the documentary even more powerful, IMO, is it includes interviews with many surviving cult members from Jonestown and family members of the cult members and includes actual footage of the people at Jonestown.

Jim Jones was a far left socialist and an extremely sick and disturbed person. This is a strong, cautionary tale that shows the far left can be just as brutal and inhumane as any national socialist.

Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) is reportedly making a show about Jonestown for HBO. I can't wait to see it.
