Well, it is hard to overcome eight years of habit after only two years with a new label. I'd say cut him a break.

A lot of times senior citizens get daft in their old age and lose their cognitive abilities. It is really best that they not drive if this happens to them.

Probably better off just having his son drive him around when necessary.
