During the occupation. Arab animals removed 38,000 Tombstones to build roads and latrines, bones scattered everywhere, and hotels and other facilities were built right on top of ancient cemeteries. Among other acts of disrespect and descecrsrion of holy sites, of course.

In 1992 the property was sold to the Jerusalem Municipality. Thee were several government building around the property but that one had been a three level parking lot till it was sold. When digging began 1000 bodies were found, removed and reburied, most were "frankish". Years later, 2010, fake headstones were placed in the property during another court case.

Part of the controversy was because on a three acre lot nearby was the site for the museum of tolerance

The cemetery was dedicated to a christian saint, St. Vincent de Paul. It had at one time been a monastery and hospice.

Once again, another thread meant to demonize Israel by posting an OP title which is false, misleading or a blatant lie.

In this case, the Israeli police have NO IDEA who vandalized the property and there is absolutely no evidence that it was a Jewish person or group, let alone "settlers" (or are we calling them all 'settlers' now?) The police state that it was an act of local vandalism, such as that which happens all over the world when people (usually young people) get stupid.

Israel, however, did the right thing, as they apparently usually do in these cases , which is to provide payment to the church for the damages.

Now, this is not to say that there isn't discrimination in Israel or tension between people of different cultures or religious faiths. There is. Just as there is in every place with multiple ethnicities and religions.
