On January 27th 1967 tragedy happened.. we have lost three brave astronauts.

Virgil Ivan "Gus" Grissom
Edward Higgins White
Roger Bruce Chaffee

On this day all three astronauts participated in a so called plugs-out test where the spacecraft was running on its own internal power source.

At 6:31 in the evening a fire broke out. All three men tried desperately to open the hatch but it wasnt possible due to the high pressure inside...

Plugs out was when the external power lines were removed from the space craft connection plugs to test how it ran under its internal fuel cells. You sure about the high pressure inside thing?

I remember it well. I was only eight years old but really interested as my school class. A great tragedy , It and the names of those men should not be forgotten,

Poor Gus couldn't get a break. We still don't know if he panicked and blew the door off the capsule or it was an electronic glitch. At any rate it seems that the government blamed him for the loss of the capsule.
