It's The Federal Gov't's Responsibility To Get The Supplies!

And the President put a stop to that. Any other complaints?
When did he do that?

The other day. You should catch his press conferences on Fox since the MSM won't air them. You'd learn a lot of what we are doing on all fronts of this battle.

The President stated he is putting a stop to middle-marketers in selling of PPE to other countries for the highest bid. He stated that there will be no bidding war between the federal government and states. He also said the federal government is not responsible for states out bidding each other. That's just how the private market works.
And why was this being allowed in the first place? At what point do you stop giving credit to this admin for putting their fingers in holes in the dike they created.

How did they create it? It's called the free market, and Trump as a former businessman believes in it. We are just in unusual times right now. He issued a PDA, and is in a battle with the CEO of 3M to force them to sell masks to the US instead of Canada and Mexico.
"The federal government, though, has so far not prevented domestic manufacturers of critical medical supplies from shipping that gear abroad. FEMA told ABC News this week it had "not actively encouraged or discouraged U.S. companies from exporting overseas."

On Thursday, Trump's top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, said that on Friday, the federal government would issue an order that would "empower Customs and Border Protection, with the help of people like the post office and express mail consignors like UPS, to basically deal with that issue." He did not provide more details."

Yeah, by all means take your fucking time. Cuz it's not like people are dying or anything.

Trump had the authority to end the bidding war before it ever got started by doing what he should have done long ago. Establish a coordinated national response regarding the acquisition and dispersal of medical supplies. What part of this being a NATIONAL emergency don't you understand?

At Thursday's briefing on how the government is responding, Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner scolded states for not building up their own stockpiles, saying that the "the notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile, it’s not supposed to be states’ stockpiles that they then use."

*But the national stockpile actually is intended for states' use, which was clearly explained on the government's own website -- until the language was changed, without explanation, hours after Kushner provided his inaccurate description.

Until Friday morning, the website of the Department of Health and Human Services, which maintains the stockpile, read, "When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency."

And he's absolutely right. The President said the same exact thing. States are to take care of their people. The state is the main supplier of their own needs. The federal government is there as a backup--not a main supplier.
Bullshit. Right now the federal government under Trump's leadership is making matters worse.

"On Thursday, the Navy officer running FEMA's supply chain task force said that he was mainly focused on ensuring the flow of the gear to the commercial market -- rather than mandating it be allocated to states and localities based on need.

In effect, the federal government has left it up to hospitals and state governments to compete for masks, surgical gowns and more, a key complaint of governors across the country."

WHAT? This nitwit is facilitating the price gouging rather than getting supplies directly to the states in need.

Because the federal government has powers that Governors do not. Rather than having 50 Governors and numerous local officials tripping over each other, the President should be taking the lead.

As you obviously never learned, within the states, the Governor and State Government has far more powers over the state than the President. You too need education on our Constitution and specifically the Tenth Amendment.

We live in the United States of America. We are a Constitutional Republic made up of fifty states, we are not one individual country. Hillsdale College offers a great course online about our Constitution and it is free! Hillsdale College Online Courses.

It will teach you what the Federal Government is allowed to do for the individual states. Maybe you should check the Tenth Amendment out first. Here's the text.
The Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.
###

So please show us all where all the things you believe are the responsibilities of the Federal Government or the President.

There are certain powers that the federal government has that Governors do not. States cannot enact the Defense Production Act.
A Presidewnt should take charge so you have all of the rowers going in the same direction rather than rowers going in different directions and maybe running into each other.

And President Donald Trump is using the Defense Production Act, thank you.

You really might learn something if you take that Hillsdale free course on our Constitution.

We both know that if President Donald Trump had personally developed a vaccine and a cure in the basement of the White House over the weekend, you'd be crying that he hadn't done it soon enough.

It's a NATIONAL pandemic. So are you also saying that if a hurricane hits Florida they shouldn't get a dime of government money or supplies?

No I'm not! But florida damn well better have a plan & supplies of their own...THEN the fed gov can step in to help.

MN does not count on the fed gov to buy our snow plows...and we have snow emergencies every single year!

This pandemic is nationwide, as we have shut our borders. It is ridiculous to place all of the responsibility on the states to take care of these situations. Why has no one answered my question then? When a state gets destroyed by a hurricane or several tornadoes does that mean the federal government should not give them any money or help???

I take it that you are not familiar with hurricanes or similar disasters. I have lived in Florida since 1954, so I have lived through many! We "Floridians", are responsible to keep at least three or four days of food and supplies on hand, more if it is anticipated to be a particularly intense storm and we are in the target area. The state has the responsibility of having ample supplies for repairing/replacing downed power lines, washed-out roads, collapsed houses. Hundreds of polls, transformers, everything else on hand and then staged near the anticipated landfall. We have state plans to bring in hundreds of additional workers and vehicles from other parts of Florida and states. None of that involves the Federal government.

The Fed comes in days, weeks, months, even years later when the needs are known.

As it is well known, this pandemic is unknown territory. We have no experience with this sort of disaster. We've had hundreds of hurricanes, wildfires out West, tornadoes in the Midwest, earthquakes, and floods on which to hone our skills.

D-Day was a historic invasion of unprecedented size. The mistakes outnumbered the things that went right. Aside from the invasion itself, over 700 soldiers were killed off England in a PRACTICE invasion. In spite of all that, America, and our allies overcame all the mistakes, errors, and even the weather to WIN, because we refused to lose.

Well according to you, as I said, you STILL get federal money and help. I know the Constitution, and I know the laws. The federal government is responsible for inter-state issues, which is what a NATIONAL pandemic is. It is and has been spreading across state lines. I think you need to do a little research yourself. The virus has become a NATIONAL issue and not just a health issue, but one that is a threat to national security which has become very prominent by the spread on Navy ships and carriers.

If that's the case, then no state should be allowed to have legal marijuana. It's against the federal law. That dope gets into other states where it's not legal, therefore (according to you) it's a federal problem and must be stopped by the federal government.

It is against federal law but the President can tell his AG whether or not to enforce the supremacy Clause of the Constitution or not. Next question?

Are you off your meds?

Why would it be the fed-gov's responsibility to buy ventilators or masks for Minnesota or Texas?

The fed-gov DID have a zillion N95 masks but obama used them all up and didn't replace them...every hospital, county, city, and state should have their own emergency supplies...Just like I do for my own personal use!

To put the responsibility for YOUR protection onto somebody else will get you killed. No matter if it's a ventilator or a gun!

It's a NATIONAL pandemic. So are you also saying that if a hurricane hits Florida they shouldn't get a dime of government money or supplies?
No but you are saying if there is a hurricane in Florida, the Fed should buy the plywood for them to board up their windows.

No, I'm not. For that to be the case, I would have to say that the government should pay every year for everyone's vaccines.

Each state knows what kinds of emergencies they are subject to. Coastline states are subject to hurricanes, middle states to tornadoes, and especially california to earthquakes. Those states should be prepared for those kinds of emergencies, as George W. Bush said, to provide the first 48-72 hours of emergency supplies and equipment.

After that point, the federal government with it's national resources is there to back up (not replace) the states in order to provide for the general welfare as the constitution mandates.

Actually the administration is all over the place on that one.

Bullshit. Right now the federal government under Trump's leadership is making matters worse.

WHAT? This nitwit is facilitating the price gouging rather than getting supplies directly to the states in need.

The reasons to invoke the defense production act is to mandate the private sector start working for the good of the country, and not for their own good. Toward this the government can control the flow of commercial goods to keep vital supplies from being either price gouged, or exported.

The blob had 3 years to replenish the stock pile.

Your blob failed. Nobody is surprised
A stock pile OBAMA WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR RESTOCKING after using it..>>>> way to go retard...

So your blob has no responsibility for a federal Stockpile?
Again retard, OBOZO drained the supply. Seem to forget that that makes it the responsibility of the incompetent Obozo to replenish the supply. Epic fail.

After Kushner says 'it's our stockpile,' HHS website changed to echo his comments on federal crisis role

It was a telling moment in the rising tensions between the Trump White House and state governors desperate for medical equipment to deal with the exploding coronavirus crisis.

But midday Friday, hours after Kushner directly contradicted the language on the HHS website, the text was changed without explanation. Retroactively matching what Kushner said, the website no longer says states can rely on the stockpile, but now says it exists to “supplement” them.*

Another thing for Democrats to talk about in November. That stockpile belongs to the people of the United States who live in these 50 states. It is the federal government's job to distribute what they have and try to get more. They have the authority not states to compel industry to produce needed medical supplies.

False.

Congressional Republicans constantly undercut the Obama Administration's budget requests when they attempted to replenish the supply. Whether the Obama Administration wanted to spend enough is a reasonable question, but Congressional Republicans even refused to give him that.

There is little evidence that anyone posting here has any idea about the Government established by the U.S. Constitution.

Primary response to this crisis rests WITH THE STATES. The Feds are in a supporting role, and to the extent the Feds have a "stockpile" it is to fulfill the Feds' obligations with respect to the Military and other Federal assets. If the Feds have more than that, they have the right to allocate the excess where THE PRESIDENT DEEMS the need to be greatest.

The Feds are in no case "responsible" to guarantee that each state has a satisfactory supply of ANYTHING. If any state experiences a shortage, that is the State's problem, not the President's.

It's so ironic how these Governors are saying Trump isn't prepared, when they were not prepared themselves. What the federal government is to provide states are in the US Constitution. Ventilators and masks are not listed.

You really are a moron. We are talking about leadership which is something that neither you or Trump understand. We are talking about a national disaster here. Not a disaster that affects a few states. Governors are not able to invoke the Defense Production Act. Also it makes sense to have one person in charge rather than 50 captains going in 50 different directions. The federal government serves the people of the United States. Taxpayers paid for that equipment.

We are not talking about hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes. These are disasters that affect a few states. We are talking about a natural disaster that affects all 50 states. It has been well past 48-72 hours.

The healthcare industry isn't owned and operated by the U.S. government. The U.S. government provides insurance coverage and moderates the policies of hospitals and pharma, but ultimately it isn't the U.S. governments responsibility to supply these industries. Since this coronavirus pandemic is declared a national emergency, they took it upon themselves to scramble the needed supplies together and provide help to the medical sector. When this has ended the usual supply method will return.

It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to defend against enemies. Even the President called this a war.

What you are talking there is an ideology... Ideology with reality is how a lot of people get killed...
