European Union Ambassador to Israel Lars Faaborg-Andersen recently paid a visit to Ziv Medical Center in the northern Israel town of Safed to witness first-hand the care being provided by Israel to Syrians wounded in their country's civil war.

During a tour with hospital director Dr. Oscar Ambon, Faabor-Andersen and his wife were reportedly impressed by the professional treatment being provided to the Syrians. They were especially touched by Suri, a young Syrian boy of three-and-a-half being treated for severe injuries suffered in an explosion.

Israel shuts door on Syrian refugees

President Shimon Peres, in an interview on CNN today, wanted to make it absolutely clear that not a single Syrian is welcome in the Jewish state.

“What will happen if Syrian refugees try to cross the Israeli border? Will you help them?” CNN asked Peres.

“No,” he replied.

“Will you shoot them?”

“We will prevent them. I mean, you don’t go straight to the rifle. There are other means to prevent them. We should prevent it. Because it will be a double tragedy for them and for us. They will become homeless and we shall become defenseless.”

“If the Syrians start to come over the border, will you stop them by force?”

“First of all, until now none of them asked to come in,” Peres said. “If they will come by force, we shall stop them by force. If they shall come in without force, we shall stop them the way any country defended her border with civilian means.”

When CNN noted that the potential refugees are trying to escape bloodshed in their own country, not invade Israel, Peres said, “If they want to escape, they first of all have to appeal, ask for permission. None of them did it.”

With Israel facing a potential influx of refugees, Peres said although no Syrians have tried to enter the country, Israel would not help any refugees who want to cross the border and would use force against any armed individuals.

“If they will come by force, we shall stop them by force,” Peres said. “If they shall come in without force, we shall stop them the way any country defended her border with civilian means.”

As to Syrian refugees, Minister of Defence Ya’alon and Prime Minister Netanyahu have followed their previous form, saying “We have no intention of opening refugee camps” (Ya’alon) and “Israel has maintained that it will not allow refugees into the country, but it has treated a small number of wounded Syrian civilians” (Netanyahu). Both leaders take that position of denial, presumably because they see those ordinary civilian neighbors as enemies, as Arab Muslims, against whom they are waging battles on many fronts and in many guises.

We heard that one before, Joey. Do you have anything new to report? Can you tell us how many the Glorious Islamic Republic of Iran has taken in, and how many that bastion of the Sunnis, Saurdi Arabia, has taken in. Let's see. The Saudis have recently deported hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians and are planning to deport hundreds of thousands more. Surely they now have room for many, many Syrian refugees. It appears that Muslims like Joey never want to see anything posted about Israelis doing good.

Listen, Joey, I don't know if you ever visited Las Vegas when you were allowed into the U.S. as a refugee from Iran and given the Green Card which you claimed you had. If so, it's a shame that you didn't hang around the Jet Center now and then where all the rich Saudis would fly in with their blond bimbos. Wouldn't it now be possible for them to take their private jets back to the Middle East and fly those unforltunate Syrian refugees into Saudi Arabia? How long could the trip take? Probably not long at all. Don't forget the Ethiopians were flown out to Israel so I would think the rich Saudis could do their bit now.

Israel has avoided taking sides but dozens of wounded Syrians have been treated at Israeli hospitals.

Israel may not be taking-in Syrian refugees (can't say as I blame them) but the Israelis are, apparently, sending fairly large-scale food and water supplies to border regions and they are apparently taking-in some of the worst of the Syrian wounded children for life-saving medical care.

Pretty good, for a country routinely walking a thin line between war and peace with Syria.

Not only that, but there are actually Israeli volunteers inside of Jordan and Turkey helping these unfortunate refugees, according to a Druze member of the Likud party.

Naturally, Billy, would never consider that the boy could have been wounded by either side in this Civil War. It always has to be the Israelis who are responsible. Maybe he will try to tell us that the 115,000 killed so far in this Syrian Civil War were killed by Jews.
