I agree Israel needed to defend itself. I'm upset that Trump tried to boss them around.

But don't forget, America started this war, and Israel was caught in between.

It's exactly what you find on paper. It's not a mandate to tell your BFF their farts smell like roses. And when the aid all flows one way, then that is called, "leverage". And it is used.

A defensive alliance doesn't, for example, preclude one signor from opposing the actions of another. Nor is reducing assistance a "reprisal", when those resources are being used for something one signor opposes.

I disagree.

The aid does not flow "one way." Alliances are mutual defense and aid pacts. You help me, I help you. It's very basic. If American interests are threatened in the Eastern Hemisphere, Israel assists. If Israel is attacked unfairly we respond.

Even last night we provided coordination and reconnaissance services.

Israel is becoming a hemispherical power. All that's holding them back are air refueling capabilities and AWACs.

The aid flows both ways. We give them money and weapons, they use the weapons and devote the money to more procurement or military RnD that we both benefit from.

Oh, the balance definitely does. And ANY president would have asked them to show more restraint, in this situation. In fact, they have. And that is because the aid flows one way, in general. That is leverage.

You may disagree that we should not try to restrain Israel, when needed, but you're on an Island with AIPAC and a smattering of religion fundamentalists and extremists
