The IDF claimed rockets were being fired from the school grounds and the school, itself, was being used as an ammo dump so it was a legitimate target. The school's director, Ribhi Salem, acknowledged that rockets were sometimes fired from the grounds around the school but not from the school, itself, and denies ammunition was stored there. Whether the IDF was mistaken or the school's director was lying or misinformed, bombing it was hardly a war crime.
