Detroit is first to fail thanks to a "perfect socio-economic storm" but how many major US cities will soon find themselves unable to operate their schools, fix their roads, cover bloated payrolls and honor their pension obligations?
My city, having lost 25% of its population while increasing its workforce, is already choking on the pension costs and seems destined to one day follow Detroit's lead.
There is no will to fix things here.
 
something similar is happening at the county level as well. Curry coutny in Oregon may have to be absorbed, because there is no revenue and no likelihood of any more in the future
 
Wow, I used to own land in that county. Had and uncle who was a judge in Grant's Pass. Died a long time ago. Nice country.
