Is This Attempted Murder?

So Apple sucks?

Their support sucks. They custom built an advanced MacPro computer for me in 2012 and tried to first give it to me in a non-functioning state.
Then after I got it and my RAID controller update would never complete (it does a battery refresh every few months), I finally had to talk directly to the engineers at Apple to find out why.
Then the Apple keyboard sucked, keys skipped and I waited hours for the Genius bar to troubleshoot it and the moron spent 2 seconds typing RANDOM characters after I waited 4 hours for my appointment. I got rid of it and bought a DAS keyboard.
Then when I installed a new OS system in 2016, it didn't install right and I spent DAYS on the phone with Apple and they understood nothing.
Then the ONE PART in my computer that wasn't made by Apple, a Radeon graphics card went bad, not only could they not diagnose, fix or replace it, but their best advice was for me to drive FOUR HOURS out of the city to a repair center.

So no, Apple computers are great but their store and phone techs lack the knowledge and skill to service their best products.

You buy a Windows product....and over the years Windows does updates that reduces your capabilities. Everything becomes disabled and you have to purchase subscriptions. I downloaded a Bing search extension and it started disabling my Firefox browser in a week, trying to get me to switch to the Microsoft browser, which is BS.

I've had Dells and they didn't last but 5 years. Now I've had this HP All-in-one desktop which I've had for over 9 years running Windows 10. It's getting pretty slow. I guess I have to buy another PC pretty soon.

I understand. This is a big issue with me. I think the government ought to be all over this. The only Windows I run is Win XP which I run in a Parallels emulator to run some old programs for that reason.

I was once top craft on a computer system bigger than the Pentagons, and I KNOW that this is all intentional designed obsolescence forcing people to buy new software. Computers from a hardware end ought to last at least 20 years. Software is written in layers built upon older ones but instead they keep changing code to deliberately make it incompatible with old software then tell you it is a necessary "security update."

20,000 security updates later and our software is still not secure---- something is wrong. I'm tired of being strung along.

I wish people would give some DETAILS of things they start threads about instead of just a link to X. X no longer loads on my Firefox web browser and now I don't even get anything with Safari on this particular post.

To see X content in firefox which is posted in-line on USMB, you'll need to turn off enhanced tracking protection...

Click the shield. Turn off enhanced tracking protection. The page will reload. You can then turn it off again if you want after you see the X content you want to see.

I leave enhanced tracking protection off for USMB, but I leave it on almost everywhere I visit on the web.

Hope this helps. If this does not work, you made need to turn off your adbolcker too. I use Adblocker Ultimate, and I can leave it on.

I dont think this is attempted murder but him not being successful isnt why. Are you saying that had the bill passed Congress he would be guilty of attempted murder?
Calling it attempted murder was just a board drama queen. It was never a murder plot, by the dufus that proposed dropping government protection. Just something to post, by the OP, and whoever wrote the link, fitting a paranoid narrative.

Good call, Jim! That actually fixed the problem! Thank You. What I don't understand is why I have to do that now but never needed to do it before. But at least this is a fix that works for now.

X changed its settings a while back. Same happened to me.

Glad to help.

This board is notorious for that.

I think flac, to his credit, was probably the last one who actually tried to maintain some semblance of the practice of informative topical content.

These days there's very, very little effort put into topical content.
I used to post the text of the stories, but management started closing my threads claiming it didn't meet USMB rules.

So I just assume that everyone has a working PC that can read X without having to go to X to read the story.

Not to mention the fact that many people do not bother reading a post that has more than 2 or 3 paragraphs.

One of the deals is that as websites get more complex, the more data they use, and the more space it takes up in your RAM. They keep expanding the size and speed of RAMS which makes pages load faster.

I used to have an IBM. I remember when it took 10 mins for a webpage to load.

This last HP I bought one with 8 GB RAM which isn't a heck of a lot, but it's lasted longer than my other PCs.

Who told them to keep making webpages more complex? Most of that complexity does not serve my needs, just costs me more time, money and trouble while profiting them.
Seeing how computer and internet access has pretty much become a NECESSITY OF LIVING now, I think this should be regulated to ensure it remains accessible to people.

I run 8 gig now which has always been enough but it can hold a lot more, probably 64 GB.

What threw me off is that X tells you the problem is my using Strict Mode when I only use Standard Mode, so I assumed it was just another browser incompatibility issue!

X used to allow access without tracking, but Musk changed that and other things after he took over as part of his efforts to make it more profitable. I posted about it back in July, 2023.

Reportedly, he also fired about 75% of Twitter staff, but X works better than ever. Just imagine what DOGE might be able to do for the federal government! :)

They're trying to secure their communications so they can find out what was going on.
The Jan 6th Committee is running scared right now, because they know they did things that are at the very least felonies.
They aren't safe because too many people know exactly what was going on, and could roll-over on everyone else.
Just ask Hillary.
I want to see that sniveling prick, kinzinger, bawling his eyes out as he's led away in cuffs.
