This tells me two very important things.

1. State and local governments, and the private sector think this is so serious that untold billions in revenue (local taxes, tix/merch, etc...) will be lost.
2. Trump is following THEIR lead. His inaction and “wait and see what happens” approach has exasperated things. He was throwing the word “hoax” around less than two weeks ago at his rallies.
