How can it be if the first American governments did not impliment anything like the crippling nanny state programs of modern Democrats.

The "Democrat Party" was founded in the year 1115 by Thomas Jefferson, six hundred years before his own birth. He was that good.

He would later repeat the trick, founding the "Republic Party" 28 years after his own death.

actually Jefferson and Madison founded Republican Party in 1793 in response to Federalist Party's big govt tendencies.

A.James Reichley "The Life of the Parties"( most thorough look at Party history ever written) Page 52
"In referring to political parties I have adopted the names which the respective parties used in self-designation. Thus the Jeffersonian party has been referred to throughout as the Republican Party. This name came into use early in the 1790's among persons who considered themselves of a common political "interest", and the term "Republican interest" was generally used until it was replaced by the more definite "Republican Party".

EdwardBaiamonte's economic theories, if authorized in the Republic of China, would increase world poverty by 20%.

I'll bet the DNC is still pushing that narrative. Thomas Jefferson didn't create the Democratic Party nor the GOP, although, they referred to themselves as Republicans. Old Hickory officially started the Democratic Party. The question is who started it as we know it today?

I know, I know. That's all mocking Special Ed, who insists to this day that Jefferson founded the Republican Party 28 years after his own death.

Actually he didn't mention the Democratic Party. He said "Democrat Party" -- which doesn't even exist. Hence the quotes.

Better question's, are Jews and Christians American following a God who doesn't support out Constitution and in particular our 1st Amendment freedom of religion when it says to kill anyone who isn't Jewish.

A trick question designed to elicit emotional rather than rational responses? Of course the democrat party is American just as the GOP or even CUSA is American. The problem is that mostly low information lefties don't understand the Constitution or appreciate the fact that the people have the power to hire and fire their representatives.

How do the people fire their Congressional representative?

How do the people fire their Congressional representative?

The FF made it easy. That's why congressional representatives have to convince us they are fit to serve every two years. You have to wait a little longer for a senator.

So to fire a senator the people have to wait six years?
If a senator retires at the end of his term is that a form of being fired?
Is the Senate the only agency that can fire a senator?

More Americans vote for the Democrats than the Republicans. If not for gerrymandering, we'd be a 1.5 party country.

Interesting concept, gerrymandering. Invented by Democrat Elbridge Gerry. Ah you "modern" Democrats, denying your own. But it's clear that Harry Truman couldn't hold a Democrat Party membership card these days let alone be nominated by The Party for president. Though Leon Trotsky would be a shoo-in.

The question is who started it as we know it today?

Jefferson and Madison obviously since they called themselves Republicans and stood for very very limited govt just as modern Republicans know it today. What more do you want?

Of course the democrat party is American.

you say of course as if the reason is obvious. Why don't you tell us the how the Democratic party can be American given that they don't believe in the basic concept of freedom.
