CDZ Is Slavery America's Original Sin?

In a word..Yes. As you point out, we compromised from the very beginning....else there would have been no nation at all---and set the table for the Civil War..100 years later.
Had America given up slavery when the rest of the civilized world did, there never would have been a civil war.
No, because slavery was not the issue. Succession was.

They were seceding from the union to keep slaves........what is it with you guys and lying about history.

If slavery had existed for 150 years before the creation of the United States, how can it be described as our original sin? The answer is that it can't be blamed on our country unless you miraculously reset the date of its creation to 1619, when the first African slaves were sold to British colonialists in Jamestown. The principal reason for buying African slaves was their natural resistance to malaria., which was killing off the European workers in the Southern Colonies. Once purchased, they became an indispensable asset to labor intensive agriculture in those colonies.

Slavery was never popular in the Northern Colonies, and abolitionist movements began to spring up in the mid 1700s. However, resentment of the British government's authoritarian policies was also building and finally erupted into the War for Independence from Great Britain. After winning that war, the Colonies realized that their independence could not be protected unless a common government was formed. A proposed Constitution was hotly debated among the former colonies, and was ratified only after allowing the southern States to retain slavery in return for accepting joint responsibility for the war debts that had been accrued.

This compromise enabled the creation of the United States, but did not end the ever-growing abolitionist movement which culminated in the Civil War. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died in that conflagration, and it is an insult to those who died for that cause to now be accused of supporting the institution they fought against. If there is any original sin to be assigned, it was the widespread rape of African women by their slave masters. But this is not and should not be an indictment of the entire United States of America.

Hove you read the Constitution and it’s proclaimed values and compared that to actions at the time?

That would help you.

Yep....slavery has existed Throughout the entire history of mankind, our Constitution finally put down in words how we would be different from the rest of the planet, by ending slavery and stating that all men are created equal.........since Europe and Africa brought slavery to America, we had to deal with it....and we did........we ended slavery with bloodshed....and have been working to create our ideals in this country....all the while, the democrat party, from it's very creation, has been fighting to keep racism and hate alive.

The Democratic Party included the Dixiecrats until the republic party decided they wanted them.

Enjoy them. They have made the GOP into a new dumber party.

And that is not true or accurate......

The dixiecrats stayed democrats.....they never changed sides.....the lie of the great party switch on racism is just that, a lie....the democrat party never abandoned it's racism and violence, as we see today as joe biden voters burned and looted cities, beat and murdered Americans and as the democrat party, today, seeks to resegregate society based on race.....
Don't try to deny what any 3rd grade kid can plainly see.

The rest of the civilized world didn't give up slavery, they simply stopped shipping slaves on British ships......europe didn't have 3 million slaves on their soil and they didn't have agriculture based on slavery.......saying they gave up slavery is just dumb.......

Correct.
The Act provided for payments to slave-owners. The amount of money to be spent on the payments was set at "the Sum of Twenty Million Pounds Sterling".[21] Under the terms of the Act, the British government raised £20 million[22] to pay out for the loss of the slaves as business assets to the registered owners of the freed slaves. In 1833, £20 million amounted to 40% of the Treasury's annual income[23] or approximately 5% of British GDP at the time.[24] To finance the payments, the British government took on a £15 million loan, finalised on 3 August 1835, with banker Nathan Mayer Rothschild and his brother-in-law Moses Montefiore; £5 million was paid out directly in government stock, worth £1.5 billion in present day.[25] The money was not paid back by the British taxpayers until 2015

The Slavery Abolition Act 1833 (3 & 4 Will. IV c. 73) abolished slavery in parts of the British Empire. This Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom expanded the jurisdiction of the Slave Trade Act 1807 and made the purchase or ownership of slaves illegal within the British Empire, with the exception of "the Territories in the Possession of the East India Company", Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), and Saint Helena. The Act was repealed in 1997 as a part of wider rationalisation of English statute law; however, later anti-slavery legislation remains in force

They weren't seceding. They already HAD seceded before Lincoln started the Civil War (AKA: War of Northern Aggression) by making a De Facto blockaid by holding and reinforcing Ft. Sumpter. You don't think blocking NY harbor would have started a war?

Is Slavery America's original sin?

The way you phrase the topic would say that it is. As it just refers to America which was established on a particular date. If all men are created equally then how can people buy other people especially when the people being purchased really have no say in the transaction. A nation under God allows slavery. Indians learned real quick that white man speaks with a fork tongue. Written words sound great on paper but when put to use in speaking with others to obtains some type of agreement then it requires some modifications.

yet if you change the meaning to mean that America was not the first in using slaves then obviously no. Still slavery is nothing to be proud about.

Slavery is humanity's original sin.

If there's such a thing as original sin, which is highly unlikely, it's America's governments through the years that has made the ordinary working people slaves to the corrupt system.

ThinK BILLIONAIRES and INCOME INEQUALITY.

It can't possibly go on indefinitely and neither Trump nor Biden will ever address the issue.

The American people could be almost ready to start fighting back, but they're not motivated to fight for the right cause.

It has to become the working people's fight for a PIECE OF THE AMERICAN PIE!

Can black Americans and white Americans leave their racism behind and fight for the common good against the common enemy?

The first and last sentences were both WRONG. Obama wasn't born in Kenya, and he didn't write the book Journeys in Black and White.

You place too much credence on somebody writing one paragraph bios for their dozens of clients.

Whether he wrote the book or not isn't relevant...but thanks for trying to obscure the facts with that....

The truth is obama's publicist stated in an official release that he was born in Kenya.......

His publicist said he wrote a book, he never wrote. They didn't even fact check the reason they put Obama's bio in the pamphlet. To sell his books.

His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.

Getting that WRONG, is absolutely relevant to trusting anything else they claim.
The most interesting and telling thing is that Obama didn't correct the "mistake" the publicist made. He certainly had the opportunity to proof read the releases, or at least see them after they were released. He never issued corrections.

2019 hate crimes reported by FBI
Known Offenders

  • In the UCR Program, the term known offender does not imply that the suspect’s identity is known; rather, the term indicates that some aspect of the suspect was identified, thus distinguishing the suspect from an unknown offender. Law enforcement agencies specify the number of offenders and, when possible, the race of the offender or offenders as a group. Beginning in 2013, law enforcement began reporting whether suspects were juveniles or adults, as well as the suspect’s ethnicity when possible.
    • Of the 6,406 known offenders, 52.5% were white, and 23.9% were Black or African American. Other races accounted for the remaining known offenders: 1.1% were American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.9% were Asian, 0.3% were Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and 6.6% were of a group of multiple races. The race was unknown for 14.6%.
It is better to quote figures from official sites than non official sites.

The Confederacy was never a country. If it had won it's rebellion, it would have become one, but it lost.
The CSA had it's own Constitution and government. It was never an actual rebellion because it was not part of another country. The "Civil War" was necked aggression by a foreign nation.

The Confederacy was never a country. If it had won it's rebellion, it would have become one, but it lost.
The CSA had it's own Constitution and government. It was never an actual rebellion because it was not part of another country. The "Civil War" was necked aggression by a foreign nation.

Bullshit.

Send in General Sherman again.
Sherman was only a badass when it came to what would become war crimes. When you wanted a bunch of women and children raped and murdered and civilian homes burned he was your man.

Because you're armed and dangerous, you may like this sanitized version of the NRA Song.

The NRA Song
Guns are neat, Guns are sweet
Guns the tool, what makes you cool.
Guns are fine, Guns are mine
Guns are things, that Jesus brings!
Guns for loonies, Guns for cons
Guns for Moonies, Guns for moms!
Guns are fun for everyone,
buy them up by the ton.
Guns for me, Guns for you,
Guns for nuts and children too!
Guns at home, Guns at work,
Guns at play, Guns berserk!
Tons and tons of great big Guns,
Are tons and tons of great big fun!
I’ve got Guns up my nose
‘tween my ears and by my toes.
I’m no fool, I’m so cool,
I take Guns to my school.
I take Guns to my car,
to the store and to the bar.
I got Guns in a drawer,
in my pocket and on the floor.
I got Guns on the wall,
behind the toilet and in the hall.
I got guns in my bed,
one is growing from my head!
Get a Gun and get it fast,
Gun-Gun shoot-shoot is a blast!

It's always seemed to have a calming effect on angry people who are anxious about using their guns on their fellow Americans. And besides that, it's always helpful when gun lovers don't touch and stroke their guns on places that make the guns feel uncomfortable.

They weren't seceding. They already HAD seceded before Lincoln started the Civil War (AKA: War of Northern Aggression) by making a De Facto blockaid by holding and reinforcing Ft. Sumpter. You don't think blocking NY harbor would have started a war?

The southern states wanted a fight for slavery and they got one.

Own it.
