Is Power grid ready for new demand of Electric cars??

Our grid will have to double capacity to handle the projected number of EVs. Also public transportation going all EV can be shutdown for days during large outages.

While China just keeps on as usual with their coal fired power plants that we pay for through the Paris climate accords. Learn Mandarin--we're going to have to speak it.

overpass with sidewalks as wide as the streets themselves, is Zhengyang Road. It has the usual banks, small convenience stores, and noodle houses of many areas in the capital, but it is set apart by a row of about a dozen shops all selling the same thing — tiny electric cars. The cars look, variously, like small Range Rovers, golf carts, trolley cars, or rickshaws with sheet-iron sides, and they are slow. Their fundamental attraction is their price — between $600 and $2,500 — and that drivers can charge them the same way they would a cell phone. They also come with the perks of being loosely regulated. These low-speed electric cars, nicknamed “elderly transport vehicles,” have an enormous market, made up mostly of people who earn very little. And in China, there are a lot of them — more than 40% of the population, or some 600 million people, make around $150 per month.

I still prefer the gasoline powered automobiles. I don't think the American power grid is ready for electric car demands. your thoughts.
Brilliant! Just fucking brilliant ! Do you have anything to back that up with or are you just taking a shot in the dark at electric cars and clean energy . This is a piss poor OP without anything of substance. What the fuck is wrong with you? Is this an example of the limits of your intelec? I fear that it is.
So...no thoughts from you. Got it.
I count 2 for 2

You
1. I like gasoline.
2. The power grid isn't ready.

One about you and the second your opinion.

Him
1. You are brilliant..not.
2. The OP sucks and you haven't backed up your opinion.

Seems pretty equal.

And where do the people think all the rare-earth minerals come from for those electric vehicles? Mining. Mining is a very dirty business.

Then think about the massive amount of used-up battery packs from those vehicles, they're gonna send them off to some third-world countries and forget about that problem.

This is sheer stupidity and naturally the government is involved in forcing the issue. Hmmm? Ah! $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Okay, so one releases CO2 into the atmosphere and the other creates solid waste that has to be stored?

Hmmm.

No, the issue is the CO2. CO2 released into the atmosphere is causing GMT to increase which is no longer sustainable.

$ are numbers that account for time spent performing work.

So, your issue is what to do with the solid waste generated. Okay. Good question.

Continue.

So, are we going to open numerous rare-earth mines in the USA to get all the rare-earth minerals needed for these cars? Hmmm? Or just rely on the ChiComms? Yeah, and CO2 is NOT a problem, it is not a polluter.
Um.. yes, CO2 is a problem. That is a forgone conclusion. You might consider taking this discussion to a different thread where you can learn about why CO2 is a pollutant.

It will have to be built just like gasoline logistics.
I sure hope the semi tanker full of electricity isn't late getting to the recharging station.
if it is carrying nothing but charged batteries, then it isnt an issue. No more than a tanker full of gasoline. At least the charged batteries can be recharged at the destination. Once the tanker gasoline is spent, that's done.

But that is a useless consideration. A vehicle always carries sufficient fuel to reach its destination or to reach the next refill point. Planning is required. A failure to do proper resource planning is a completely different issue.

They will eventually get to the point where the auto charges it's own batteries while being driven or setting..

Right. So if the other guy is shitting in the well, you figure you should just shit in the well too. The the drinking water is only twice as shitty. Not particular good reasoning.

So you are saying that you think that the perpetual motion machine is a thing. It's not. Basic thermodynamic principles rule out perpetual motion. That's been settled science for centuries. You might want to go study some basic physics. This discussion is a bit advanced for you.

EDIT: I think the proper word would be sitting. Setting would be more like "setting the table"

You may get away with that smut in the bars you frequent but not around here. No one said anything(except your dumb-ass) about a perpetual motion machine... The future is about ease not using the barn when it collapses.

See post 15. It did not take much to come up with some"thoughts" but apparently doing so is beyond 52st,. and you. I will bet that the OP nevefr comes back to defend that stupidity. It never does.

Of course not. It's a troll.

Okay, how do you propose that an electric car "charges it's own batteries while being driven."?

You might want to be more specific when you attempt to make a point.

"Smut" would be another term for porn. Do you know a different definition? Or do you just use that as a general term for "I dont like that"?

Moreover, the electric car batteries will only be able to accept but so many electric charges before the batteries have to be replaced. Which will just be more added costs for the consumer. Not to practical for the Future?!
Do you have any actual information on that or are we just supposed to take your word for it. Are you really so fucking lazy that you can't provide a source.? Or are you so stupid that you think that you can get get away with that shit?
We may be getting turned around here, let's try & straighten this thing out. Look, we're not the ones saying there's some kind of Climate/AGW/petroleum crisis. Anyone who is can explain what they want & it's the rest of us who can ask for proof. We've heard all kinds of stuff about greenhouse gas caused by CO2 & how we need electric cars (powered by coal fired plants?) to save the planet. Or something like that.

So Prog, please tell us what you want and why & let us decide whether we like it or not.

Oh. Sorry. Im not an alcoholic like yourself so I don't spend my free time in bars getting drunk. But thanks for explaining why you are having so much difficulty controlling your emotions. Alcohol does seem to have that tendency. It's that or the emotional dysfunction comes first and you find alcohol is the only way you can. Sucks.

Sure isn't that what humans have been doing for millions of years? Currently they use lithium which is old sea beds, they have mines in Nevada. In a couple of years were are promised diamond and nuclear waste battery that last 28,000 years.

LOL

Try opening new mines in America. Especially with the idiot Biden-Haris Junta in charge.

The new mine in Nevada, approved under Trump, relies on sulfuric acid.

Unlike more conventional brine mining, hectorite clay requires sulfuric acid treatment to separate lithium salts from associated minerals.
This too:

On January 15, 2021, BLM issued their Record of Decision in which the plan set forth in the Environmental Impact Statement; it was approved following a questionable public input process, ending with final review during the winter holidays. Protestors began occupying the site on the same day. The Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribe is among those concerned by the mine's decades-long impacts.

Mining is power-hungry and a very dirty business.

We rely on foreign countries for the vast bulk of our rare-earth minerals, which is much more than just lithium btw.

And no one is going to be driving around with those so-called batteries of diamond and nuclear waste.
And you're proposal is what? Or are you simply about why its all impossible, nothing can be done, we might as all just give up and die?

Eventually there will be more electric vehicles made- they will be a panacea- not a replacement- oil is from fossils- fossils are what? Can you say, renewable? Or, is everything going to just stop being fossilized-
How long do you think that it will be before YOU are used as fosil fuel in some futuristic vehicle?

Best guess, a million years.

So you think oil comes from dinosaur's?

Let me guess you failed science
