Interesting article. I grew up in a very conservative religious home, but my grandparents were social gospel Christians. They spent a tremendous amount of time volunteering in prisons, homes for indigent elderly people, and the local homeless shelter. They left their estate to that same homeless shelter.
One of the first books my grandma ever bought me was a book by Charles Sheldon entitled "What Would Jesus Do?" That book informed my practice of my faith, choice of career, and personal values.
It strikes me that many believers today have never read it, which is a shame.
