Funny thing the past two weeks, so little news. It's all that dead Playmate and bald Britney. Did notice today that FOX is at least getting around to covering the two imprisoned, beaten border patrol agents. About time for that.

Maybe, just maybe it could be because the surge is working, at least initially:

well, 44 died today in a suicide bombing at a university in Baghdad.

and that was one spectacular suicide bombing, it would be unrealistic, which the people of Iraq have not had the opportunity to be, to expect all those can be ended. It's the frequency and the trends that should make or break this.

hell, if we hadn't "surged" those troops, the death toll might have been triple that!

C'mon MM, you admitted you hoped this would work, while being skeptical. Don't go all partisan now!

hoping it will work and thinking it will work are not synonymous. I do not think this will work. I do not think we ought to be in Iraq in the middle of a civil war, even if we did start it....it is not ours to finish or even steer.

Well some very good minds think it will, if the Iraqi government does their part. Did you see though that Talabani is in Jordan for health care?

Ill Iraqi president in Jordan for tests

By SHAFIKA MATTAR, Associated Press Writer 39 minutes ago

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani fell ill Sunday and was rushed unconscious to a hospital before being flown to neighboring Jordan for an immediate medical checkup, medical and government officials said.

Talabani's son, Qubad Talabani, said his father was suffering from fatigue and exhaustion.

"He did not have a heart attack" or a stroke, he told CNN. He said his father had "made his own way off the plane" when he landed in Jordan.

If "if's" and "but's" were candy and nuts, what a merry Christmas we would have!

That is a monumental "IF". ANd if it does NOT do its part...which is a much smaller and more realistic if, the surge will have been for naught.

Ah, but if they are and continue to do so...

Libs are never happy - that is part of being a liberal.

They will always look for a cloud in a silver lining

Well MM is a self-professed liberal. He said nothing of the sort. At this point in time, skeptism is warranted, but I'd like to see more, 'defeat is not an answer' from both sides.

Personally, I think the administration did great harm in trying to make a war, 'no sacrifice' for those at home. There needs to be more connections to the plan, reasoning, and progress of what's going on. Should be from the administration, not just the press.

There has never been a war fought that has gone perfectly. Have their been mistakes made - of course

All the left offers is attacks and pot shots at the administration and the troops

What "sacrifice" Kathy? When libs say that they want tax increases (I am not syaing that is what you mean BTW)

The Dems do not want vistory in Iraq. They would rather have the issue

At least Joe Lieberman gets it

again... what will "victory" in Iraq look like and how long should America have to fight in order to achieve it? And, given the fact that so much of any victory depends on the good intentions and successful compromises between two warring factions that do not appear to care whether Americans can claim a victory or not, how can any "defeat" even be "ours" and not "theirs"?

Last first, because we entered it. If the allies lost WWII, it would have been our loss too, not just Europe's.

Victory in Iraq would be their ability to move forward economically, less violence, increasing their ability to compromise, those sorts of benchmarks.

Once again Kathy, I base my opinions on what I see and what I here from the left
