Multiculturalism. Who knew that the left would eliminate it in favor of a glorious cultural caste system in which the only people allowed to cook and eat Chinese food must have their DNA on record.

This week, NPR asked “When Is It OK To Profit From Cooking Other Cultures' Food?” In other words, is it okay for an Indian-American to run a pizza joint, or an Italian to run an Indian restaurant? If you're a white guy cooking Mexican food, it is racist or "neocolonialist"? Apparently, to the Left, you should “stick to your own kind” when selling food.

No culinary miscegenation here. Don't let the sun set on you in Koreatown. Or Juarez. So say the culinary commissars at NPR.

...

Which like most leftist conversations ends with firings, purges, forced apologies, lynch mobs and finally gulags.

All of this really means bad news for American cusine. If you're not of Italian descent, put down that pizza! If you don't have Germans in your family tree (one drop rule) then we better not catch you eating a burger. We're going to need to deputize every single media studies and social anthropology graduate to serve as the national political food police.

And just think of all the food options we'll have under the Glorious Socialist Revolution:

Unfortunately, Chinese food does not have all the same ingredients in the USA as it does in China..it did 40 years ago, but not now...

Nowadays liberals eat a lot of used corn, I guess it's a part of their new age lifestyle...

Unfortunately the ultimate source for this malarkey of an idea --- which had to be ferreted out from a sub-link, lest the casual reader actually discover the original --- made no such claim. Matter of fact it makes no point at all --- it simply invites thoughts on its message board:

>> On one hand, many of you pointed out that cooking the cuisine of other cultures is a tangible way to connect. That's part of what makes America a literal as well as figurative melting pot.

..... We're just kicking off this discussion. Over the coming weeks, we plan to keep digging into these ideas of where food, race and culture overlap — and we want to hear from you. Let us know what questions are on your radars. <<

Always vet your own links, Jizzhat. Helps you steer clear of holes like the one you just jumped into with both feet.

I cook better Pancit (holiday food) than a native born Filipina but would never profit from my culinary skill.

Let's face it, if everybody was confined to their own cuisine England would starve to death.

I don't need to -- YOU do. I vet my own. And you just demonstrated why it's a good idea to not forget to do that.
