Is it ever ok to have an Abortion?

Or. . .

She got away with Murder.

Only time will tell.

No, she had a miscarriage, and the religious fanatics prosecuted her for it.

This is the problem with your whole "Fetuses be People" stance, Cleetus. Every miscarriage would NOW have to be treated like a homicide.

Law and Order: Tampon Police!

In Ms. Patel's case, the fact that she was foreign and poor meant she didn't get good legal representation until AFTER she was sent to jail.

An intentionally self induced miscarriage is. . .

Wait for it. . .

An. . .

Abortion.

Okay, I realize that you religious nuts never think these things through.

So how do you tell a "self-induced" abortion from a natural one? (Actually, natural miscarriages are called "Spontaneous abortions" in medical parlance.)

You have an investigation. Which means that every miscarriage is going to have to be treated like a potential homicide, with Brisco and Logan looting through your medical files? HIPAA? Forget that shit, you don't have any medical privacy anymore.

In the case of Ms. Patel (you should really read up on it, it's a vision of what dystopia you want to inflict on us), sensible people should be horrified. She was charged with taking abortion causing medications, even though blood tests found none of the drug in her system. They used a questionable test to determine if the fetus had taken a breathe before it died.

Keep in mind, the cases where women have been persecuted under these laws for miscarriages have been women of color. (White women can get good lawyers).

I think self-absorbed pro-lifers should go eat some eggs.

Thanks for illustrating just how shallow your thinking really is.

Especially, given that the vast majority of eggs that people eat are not fertilized and therefore are not in any way a baby chicken in the first days of its life.

The ones that ARE fertilized?

They taste about the same. . . Unless they develop too long.

Hey that's the pro-choice's line.

...and, of course, nobody ever had an abortion before Roe, and if Roe is overturned, then nobody will ever have an abortion again, right? You need to put away your outdated self rightouse [sic] moral views, and learn to mind your own business.

I happen to very much disagree with you, that opposing the senseless slaughter of innocent human beings constitutes “outdated self rightouse [sic] moral views”.

Thousands of innocents are being brutally murdered, every day. It takes a soulless sociopath to be OK with that. And it is society's business, and the business of every decent member of society, to oppose such murder, and to wish that those who have any willing part in it are properly brought to justice.

Wow! So 65% of Americans, and the entire Supreme Court are "soulless sociopaths"!

Yep, the word is self-rightous, and you are proving it with every post.

Abortion has nothing to do with assault and molestation. But, you know that already.

Abortion •IS• assault. It is murder. And our society bears a deep shame, a deep evil, in our failure to recognize this horrendous evil for what it truly is, and to treat it and those who participate in it accordingly.

Every one of you murderous pieces of subhuman shit who defend this practice have the blood of innocent children in your hands.

Take a valium, Bob, before you have a stroke.... I don't think that is against church restrictions, as long as you don't wash it down with a Coke.

Iceland is now boasting about having nearly eliminated Down's Syndrome.

We should follow their fine example. Of course, we've only eliminated 91% of Down Syndrome cases through testing and abortion. We wouldn't have the problem at all if women weren't forced to wait until their 30's to start making babies.

Down Syndrome is mostly the result of a lack of enough folic acid in the woman's diet.

Those who don't or can't eat vegetables don't get the folic acid. Those are usually women who are young, poor and usually on public assistance.

Age usually doesn't have a factor in that. It's the amount of folic acid a person has in their body. Broccoli is full of folic acid which is why women who plan their pregnancies usually load up on that and parsley which also has it and a lot of iron. That's on top of prenatal vitamins.

Yes age also contributes but not as much as not enough folic acid.

Since the population is about 3 times what is sustainable, then abortion is the best moral choice. All people die anyway, and it would be better if from old age or abortion, then pandemic, war, starvation, etc.

That's awful. Women of color should always have an abortion.

It's not Iceland's example. It's the example that was set a lifetime ago, in Nazi Germany. Improve the human race by brutally exterminating those deemed inferior. And then wonder why, under such a program, humanity turns much worse, instead of better.

No reason why. We don't treat every natural death as a homicide. Properly deaths should only be investigated when there's good reason to suspect that foul play was involved. If that was not the case, here, then that was an abuse of the law.

No, it's because the fetus has an extra chromosone.... usually because the woman waited too long to start having babies.

That's awful. Women of color should always have an abortion.

That's awesome... keep telling us how not racist you are.

Speaking or racists.

Our laws once recognized white people as persons, but not blacks or Indians. That was wrong, too.

Actually, our laws never said any such thing. It recognized slavery as a thing, but it never denied the humanity of black people. Those that weren't slaves had all the rights of white people. As for Native Americans, our laws really didnt apply to them because they had their own nations the US had treaties with they regularly broke, but you can't make a treaty without recognizing the other person as... a person.

Now that we have THAT foolishness out of the way, here's the problem with giving "Personhood" to spooge.

It would by definition, have more rights than the woman it is inside. And we aren't just talking about her reproductive rights, such as making a woman have her rapists' baby. We are talking about issues such as, does she have the right to smoke or drink during a pregnancy. Yup, it's a bad idea, but these kinds of laws would make it a crime.

Miscarriages would have to be investigated as potential homicides. (Otherwise, you'd have doctors do what they did back before Roe, which was to perform the abortion and then write something else on the chart.)

Now, there are things you guys could actually do to reduce the number of abortions, if that is what you REALLY cared about. It would involve better sex education, more comprehensive access to contraception, paid family and medical leave and more access to medical care, you know, the stuff you guys say you are against because "Socialism Bad" or whatever.

The Europeans already do these things, and they have half the number of abortions per capita that we have.

Again, the Nazi example isn't a good once, since most of the handicapped people the Nazis were eliminating were not the ones with birth defects, but the ones who were crippled in accidents or wars. The goal was less "Eugenics" and more "Eliminating useless Eaters"... you know, kind of like Republicans now saying it's no big deal if some old folks die of Covid-19.

No reason why. We don't treat every natural death as a homicide. Properly deaths should only be investigated when there's good reason to suspect that foul play was involved. If that was not the case, here, then that was an abuse of the law.

But how would you know if it was a "natural" death without an investigation? The thing is, most people who die of natural causes die in hospitals/hospices. They already know why they were there. If you guys were serious about the "Fetus be People" laws you want, any miscarriage would have to be treated like a homicide, because fetuses don't normally miscarry.

Was it a miscarriage or an abortion? You going to trust an OB/GYN to give you the straight story when he was probably performing abortions before you made it illegal.

You see, we REALLY don't have to speculate what your "Abortion-free" country would look like, Mormon Bob. The Philippines are already there. 500,000 illegal abortions a year, a 1.8 million abandoned children.

So, the prochoice folks, who believe that the government has no right to control our own bodies, makes us equivalent to NAZI's. Got it.

Sorry, but that is just wrong.
Everyone constantly is supporting eugenics,
Do we find ourselves sexually attracted to the dumbest, weakest, unhealthy, ugly, etc.?
Of course not.
Humans all select discriminatively against those deemed inferior.
If one did not, then there would have to be something seriously wrong with that person.
But there also does not have to be anything remotely brutal about it.

As for fetus, the problem there is no glimmer of evidence that a fetus cares one way or the other. When you have not yet been born or opened your eyes, can you really care or even know what life or death even is?
