I think the people who made the film which was a low budget film and made 15 million in Idia and 100 million here should of at least made sure they were not living in slums anymore. Yes they paid them well for India's standards but come one!

Que? America during the Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush era had section 8 housing, does that mean we have been a socialist nation since the 80s?

Name as many India movies made and based in India to win an Oscar? Slumdog won the most esteemed award in all movies an academy award for best picture! It was huge for the country and they wanted to reward the people that made it possible.
