The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Marzieh Afkham dismissed Peres' offer to meet with President Rouhani as a "propaganda ploy", reaffirmed its opposition to the Jewish state's existence. "This propaganda to help the regime out of isolation will prove fruitless," she said, and added that Peres's offer was aimed at helping Israel out of what she described as its 'isolation'. "There has not been nor will there be any change on Iran's stance and views regarding the Zionist regime", Afkham said. "Iran does not recognize Israel.

Mr. Peres is known for his peaceful ideologies, and said in the past that he doesn't veiw the Iranian people as enemies. He offered to meet with the Iranian president in an attempt to acheieve stillness in the area.
