"Iranian money being held in the US will be paid out to victims of a 1997 suicide bombing in Jerusalem, a San Diego federal court ruled Tuesday.

In his decision, Judge Barry Moskowitz ruled that the Iranian Defense Ministry must pay $9 million (NIS 31.6 million) in damages to nine plaintiffs, five of whom were victims of the double bombing in Jerusalem’s Ben Yehuda Street pedestrian mall, along with four family members of victims.

Five civilians were killed in the Hamas attack, including three 14-year-old girls, and many more were injured, including a number of US citizens. The United States has designated Hamas as a terrorist organization since 1997 and as “Specially Designated Global Terrorists” since 2001.

“While the US and EU are rushing to strengthen the law-breaking Iranian regime economically,” said attorney Nitzana Darshan-Leitner, director of Shurat HaDin, in a statement, “Shurat HaDin and the families it represents are not forgetting and are not forgiving the Iranians for financing terror that hit Israel.”

Well it is good to see how the diplomatic relations are working to the advantage of those effected by past harms.

Just so I get this right, israeli nationals sued iran in an american court with a jewish judge for damages related to a bombing by hamas in jerusalem, to be paid from monies received by a US defense contractor while the shah was still in power.

No, you didn't get it right, Mohammed. This is a drop in the bucket for the terrorism, murder and mayhem the Iranian government has caused around the world.

So, when is the Samouni family going to get some bucks?
After the Fogel family and so many other victims of Islamist terrorist attacks?

You'd think iranian money in us banks should go to americans who have been harmed by iran.

The significance of this decision is as follows: "An order officially giving the victims’ families (who won a default judgment against Iran years ago) title to the funds in theory, if not in practice, is a first in Shurat Hadin’s decade-long struggle to not only win judgments on Iran-related terror financing cases, but to find actual assets to satisfy the judgments.

Back in 2001, the organization helped the American families of five of those wounded in the triple suicide bombings to begin legal proceedings against Iran for its sponsorship of Hamas, which had claimed credit.

In that attack, on September 4, 1997, three operatives from the Islamist group set off explosives attached to their bodies as they wandered the packed Ben Yehuda Street promenade in the middle of the afternoon, killing five Israelis and wounding scores of others.

Three of those killed were 14-year-old girls."

I wonder if this case will set a precedent to begin legal proceedings against The USA for its sponsorship of Terrorist actions around the world?

It seems to me the precedent set is foreign nationals suing in american courts for damages incurred on foreign soil by foreign nations perps.

So not only are we the policeman of the world we are now also the litigious ambulance chasing court of the world?

Since when did american tort law cover foreigners for acts committed in foreign nations by other foreigners?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that most pro-Palestinian posters call America a terrorist nation?
They're always telling everybody how they love America, but not the way others love America.

Now we know what they mean. Love = Hate.
