I happened to be at the dealership the day it was being off loaded. Did not know it was mine and took some photos thinking "I wish that were mine".....

All funnies aside. I had one of these once. Also a Honda V65 Sabre , a Yamaha 500 Enduro, and a KZ650.

Time for a new toy.

I have only ridden a couple if 30's - 40's Indians back in the day.

So I am sure a 2014 Indian is light years ahead of the old antique ones.

What is the engine size?

How many gears?

I haven't followed the latest Indian news. Seems like they come and go. Maybe with good financial backing now? It looks like it. They did a great job incorporating new technology with tradition in mind. Air cooled was a smart way to go in my opinion if they managed horsepower and epa requirements. I have a 36 yo beemer that's still going strong.

I truly hope this version of Indian motorcycles works out. They have produced a very nice looking bike that appears to be at least competitive - feature for feature - with Harley Davidson. The only negative thing I've heard is that the seat-floorboard positioning is a little tight for anyone over 5'11".

But it's disappointing in a way that they chose to follow H-D and produce air-cooled V-2's instead of employing a modern engine design. It's no secret that the best performance comes from in-line 3's and 4's, and water-cooling is absolutely required if your objectives are high performance and longevity. Indian made 4-cyllinder bikes early on, so if "historical" was their objective, there was no need to jump on the V-2 bandwagon.

In doing that, they played right into Harley's hand. The Japs have been making better "cruisers" than Harley for years, and what has it got them?

Who would have ever guessed it! The Indians are not only good at running casinos but building motorcycles too! I'm impressed.

My take on that is that there are so many HDs out there that they feel people will pay for the similar design but be a bit different. That style of bike is not about performance, anything near 85-90hp is plenty, especially if it gets HD gas mileage.

The V twin has a unique feel and puts power to the ground like none other. I have a Ducati and while it isn't a 4 cylinder it scoots plenty hard low in the rpm range.
