Income Inequality’s Ripple Effect

Last week, Barack Obama, delivering the clearest and most powerful economic policy speech of his presidency at an event sponsored by the Center for American Progress, identified “the combined trends of increased inequality and decreasing mobility” as “the defining challenge of our time.” The week before, in his first papal exhortation, Pope Francis robustly criticized “trickle-down theories” of economic growth as having “never been confirmed by the facts” and as leaving behind the poor and vulnerable. Soon after being awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics, Robert Shiller told the Associated Press that inequality was “the most important problem that we are facing now today.”

These concerns are serious. For the last three decades, the U.S. economy has been growing dramatically more unequal and less mobile by nearly every measure. The fact is that we don’t know nearly enough about what high inequality means for economic growth and stability. We need a better understanding of how inequality affects demand for goods and services and macroeconomic and financial imbalances. We are in the dark on whether and how inequality affects entrepreneurship, or whether it alters the effectiveness of our economic and political institutions, or how it affects individuals’ ability to access education and productively employ their skills and talents.

Meanwhile, dirt poor Christians will continue to believe what Fox News tells them.

What is life like when you believe your own life sucks because someone else has a magical power over you?

Unsuccessful and impotent, a recipe for happiness.

The very wealthy con leaders who lead those cons around by their nose rings work very hard to make anyone who will listen believe that income inequality is NO problem. But history tells a much different story. Great income inequality has lead to the downfall of every economic leading nation in history.

But the con leaders want to be MORE wealthy. And if the us economy does tank, no problem. Because they are STILL RICH. And they can move to any country that they choose to. The con followers, those with the nose rings, will have NO idea what happened, but they will continue to believe and support the very causes of the collapse. Always do. Ignorance, you see, IS bliss.

You're family motto?

No, but thanks for asking. I often wonder though what life is like for people who have no control over their own destiny, people who rely on the largess of state dictated theft of others' wealth in order to survive, people for whom hard work and merit come second and third to envy toward the successful.

Maybe one of you leftist douchebags would care to tell what such a charmed life is like from the inside.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that when the con is cornered and has no drivel left to push then he resorts to 3rd grade insults based on nothing at all except his ability to string trash together. Sad existence. Must be sad when you have no knowledge that you can back up with any proof at all.

But then, what the hell. It is much easier to believe what you want, eh me boy. Much simpler that way. No need to educate yourself.

I don't need education to know a Class Envy Prick when I see one. You people are all the same, living shitty little lives and blaming other people for it.

Enjoy your reality in the trailer park.

You better just hope they continue to think they have no power because when the realize they do have power, as they did in France when they had their revolution, it's going to be the rich and upper classes that pay and they will pay with their lives.

What? Do you think our government started the foodstamp program out of concern for the people? No, it was to prevent a revolution by the poorest among us.

Oddly enough, the greatest expansion of income inequality in the last 50 years has occurred while Barack Obama was president and the Senate was controlled by Democrats.
And they say they are trying to help the poor.
Are liberals confused, angry or both?

I see. Are you aware that the French Revolution was against a Monarchy? Who will the rabble attempt to behead? Obama? He's got nothing he hasn't stolen through taxation.

Go fuck yourself while you wallow in your own filth of depraved envy. Idiot.

The rich left. Those rich who thought they could "help" were the ones killed. Of course, the rich weren't enough. Kill the rich, kill the Christians, and eventually they ended up killing themselves. Robespierre who happily guilliontined "the rich" was beheaded himself.

As the rich got fewer and fewer, because they left or were killed, the concept of rich had to change until the rich man was one who still had a potato. It was all settled and put back in its place by the Dictator, Napoleon who was happy to show the poor what real killing was like by killing them! Then of course, the monarchy was restored again proving that the poor have their heads up their asses.

The self appointed agitators of Da Poor, think they will beheading the executives on Wall Street and stealing their money.

The rich will leave, take their money and leave Da Poor to their poverty. Likely use that money to raise up an army of mercenaries and put Da Poor to their fate.

Children lack the mental capacity to play chess, they don't see the ramifications three or moves into the future, they only feel a reaction to something they don't like, like an idiot mongoloid tasting it's own feces because it looks like fudge.

Income Redistribution has very negative effects.http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/fi...les/articles/miron-nationalaffairs-1-5-11.pdf

Income redistribution is a very important control mechanism of Socialism and Communism.

Many of the legal immigrants that come here have strong work ethics, know that education is the key to success and insure that their children act respectful and study hard in school.

Many legal immigrants from the West Indies believe that their primary goal is to insure that their children do better then they have done.

There are more people today than in past years who do not have a strong work ethic and do not understand personal responsibility.

<edited for cursing>.

It was a revolt by the have nots against the haves! When you have the majority of the wealth in the hands of a few that's exactly how bad it is, it doesn't matter what you call it. No country can long stand with the majority of it's wealth in the hands of a few. It doesn't matter if you call it a Monarchy or a Republic, the results are the same. Those who haven't learned from history are doomed to repeat it.

The concentration of wealth was no worse in France than it was in England. Why didn't the later suffer a violent revolution?
