López Obrador made the remarks while speaking to reporters Tuesday, the morning after his government met with Biden’s envoys for the region, who were visiting to address the record spikes in illegal border crossings.

It's just common sense.

People operate on incentives and disincentives.

Rolling back disincentives in the form of Trump's executive actions alone would have increased the flow.

Biden running his gob about how he's going to do this and that to offer citizenship and other things further incentivizes people to come.

Between the two we end up with what we're looking at. And there was also likely a great deal of pent-up demand, so to speak, which pushed it even higher.
