Immigration question

If so many people (including myself) are in favor of tighting up immigration control and not allowing so many illegal aliens to enter the country, why is the Bush Adminstration in favor of it? Why are they proposing "worker visas," which allow Mexican nationals to work here and take their money back to Mexico, tax free?

Much of this has to do with politics and little to do with inability to enforce the border. Harsh enforcement on the border or with illegals would automatically turn the Hispanic community away from whichever party enacted such laws, even those who came here legally. The Hispanic community would cry 'persecution' over such measures.

The reason why worker visa might be granted is exclusively due to the positive effects such workers have on the American economy.

Gabriella, about 3/4 of the GOP is asking the exact same question. It's mind boggling that Bush is so blind to the problem of illegal immigration.
