I'm reading Saul Alinsky

But then again, I leave off stuff from my resume that won't help me get a job -- like jobs of short duration, or jobs where I had a bad experience.
I never have to use a resume because I am self employed and work for myself.

Then you're a failure.....
Sure 'nuff wing nutt. Yet, you too should read "Rules for Radicals"...

I have and never let a crisis go to waste.

Me neither, usually a crisis is good time to leave town. Trump used a crisis to spend lots of dough...

Ignorance about Saul Alinsky was spread by cynical Tea Party organizers who hated Hillary Clinton, political operatives who are now largely right populist Trump supporting Republican propagandists. These partisan propagandists actually adopted in a crude way Alinsky’s most cynical modus operandi, often boasting about it and praising Alinsky. Their willful lies have clearly infected almost every confused commenter here.

I say this as one who did not at all admire the final philosophy of Saul Alinsky, as a person who despises the “liberal imperialist” Establishment views of DNC power broker Hillary Clinton.

There are just too many misconceptions to explain here. At the very least one should know Alinsky was NOT a supporter but rather a critic of 1960s New Left groups like SDS and especially Weathermen. He was an advocate of building lasting community organizing groups. His tactical and organizational methods were consciously rejected by both Obama and Hillary Clinton. He was not a Marxist or believer in top-down socialism, but rather a cynical anti-Establishment grass roots radical democrat. Alinsky was however, as a young man in an earlier era, a brilliant community organizer, as this video indicates:

A fair, balanced and thorough examination of who Saul Alinsky was, what he believed, what he did, who he influenced, is here: Who is Saul Alinsky, and why does the right hate him so much?

This even contains a cool video of him on William Buckley’s Firing Line.

Personally, although I was quite a radical anti-war activist in my youth, and later active in my union, I never bothered reading Saul Alinsky or gave him any thought at all until the Right took him up as a “satanic” Marxist influence on Hillary Clinton and President Obama. The Right itself made use of Alinsky techniques in some of their own community organizing campaigns, especially their highly effective “anti-busing” movement.

He has a bunch of rules to prove that the ends justify the means.

I thought it over and realized: I would not go into business with Saul Alinsky, I would not trust Saul Alinsky if he was fighting next to me in a foxhole, and I would not want Saul Alinsky dating my daughter.

You mean like NaziCon darling Ayn Rand?
Saul did not know what to do when power is achieved. Its getting there. We see it now. It ends with authoritarian rule. I see no new way. Just the rehash of the old. The cities are like a lawless old west town that is high taxed with the foot of the law and politicians on the neck of those who make the town go.
